However, it boggles the mind that one of the two most left-leaning Senators in the entire Republican caucus comes from a state as red as Alaska. It’s just stunning that we can’t get a more reliable conservative vote from this state.

But Scott should endorse who he wants. That’s fine.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R) announced his endorsement for Alaskan Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) as opposed to her Trump endorsed opponent, Kelly Tshibaka.

In an interview on Sunday, the GOP chairman said although he fully supports the incumbent, he added any Republican candidate would be “foolish” not to embrace the 45th president’s endorsements. Scott also emphasized Democrats being “obsessed with Trump” is going to benefit Republicans who are focused on winning by actually solving current issues in the U.S., such as inflation.

“I think it’d be foolish not to want and accept Donald Trump’s endorsement, but you’re gonna win not because somebody endorses you, you’re gonna win because you focused on making sure inflation gets stopped, making sure people get a job, making sure your kids aren’t indoctrinated on critical race theory, make sure we have safe communities,” said Scott. “That’s gonna be the issues people care about.”

Scott’s a good guy. I’m sure some Trumpists will hammer him for this. They shouldn’t.

The headline exaggerates a little, though.

President Donald Trump is in celebration mode right now after Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said that she has not decided if she will run again for reelection.

To me, there’s quite a bit of difference between “indicates she may not” and “hasn’t decided yet”.

It would be something to be excited about. It’s almost certain that any other Senator from Alaska would be a more reliably conservative vote. A Democrat has almost no chance of being elected there, and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is very much a moderate Republican.

Kelly Tshibaka, Alaska’s Commissioner of Administration, has announced that she will be challenging Murkowski for her Senate seat. Fox News reported that she described herself as someone from “a new generation of Alaska conservatives” who as a candidate will portray herself as a candidate who will rebuild Alaska’s economy, defend and rejuvenate small businesses and fight to protect the jobs of Alaskans in the energy industry.

A campaign video for Tshibaka described her as conservative, pro-life, and pro-Second Amendment, with the slogan, “America First. Always.”

Sounds great, but Murkowski is a formidable opponent. And has the backing of the corruptocrats in Alaska. She’s already survived one primary defeat and managed to hold her Senate seat despite not even being on the ballot.

I’ll believe Murkowski can be defeated in a general election once it actually happens. Not before.

“I will not be endorsing, under any circumstances, the failed candidate from the great State of Alaska, Lisa Murkowski,” Trump said in a statement first reported by Politico. “She represents her state badly and her country even worse. I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator.”

She’s a corrupt big government moderate from a very right-wing independent small government state, and yet she remains in office. She won election despite not even being on the ballot. Alaskan politics is almost as corrupt as Louisiana and she is the current leader of what former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) used to call “the Good Ole Boys Club”. She has immense power where it counts, in the board rooms and country clubs in Alaska.

I wish Trump luck, but I’m not sure that this is a fight he can win.
