Attorney General Merrick Garland is facing calls to resign following the release of an internal FBI email proving that the agency was actively tracking and investigating and alleged “threats” against school board members.
“The attorney general needs to resign,” said Ian Prior, the executive director of the political action committee Fight for Schools. “He has completely lost the trust of the American people in the impartiality of the justice department.”
When you a) declare war on American parents, b) use the full weight of the Department of Justice to enact your war, and c) lie about that to Congress, well, it’s time to go.

He told lawmakers that Justice and the FBI are not using counterterror tools to target parents, as the National School Boards Association had requested in a letter crafted with the White House. Yet House Republicans this week released a whistleblower’s bombshell e-mail — sent on behalf of the FBI’s Counterterrorism and Criminal Investigations divisions the day before the AG testified — asking agents to “apply” a “threat tag” and “track” threats against school officials.
That order followed on Garland’s instructions for US attorneys to “convene meetings” with FBI agents and local leaders to address the supposed threats from parents — which don’t actually exist. Even if the AG didn’t know his underlings were following his orders when he testified, he should have corrected himself publicly once he learned.
Sounds like a lie to me. But this whole escapade has been disgusting and reprehensible. Garland should resign for ever even considering putting the weight of the DoJ against concerned parents wanting to ensure the safety and proper education of their children. This is wrong on so many levels that I don’t even know where to start.
Somehow this seems far worse than parents shouting at a school board meeting, but what do I know?

I expect a statement from the DOJ immediately.
Some parents said they took the incident as a threat.
“Absolutely, it made me feel threatened,” Hollie Plemmons, a mom of three, told Fox News over the weekend. “I’m scared and I’m afraid he’s going to do something.”
Plemmons was at the school board meeting and attempted to speak with Austin. Earlier in the evening, she herself had spoken at the meeting and had mentioned CRT.
After Austin promised to bring soldiers next time, Plemmons responded, “Locked and loaded? Did you just threaten me?”
“Locked and loaded,” he said again.
This is an actual threat of domestic terrorism. Yet, it hardly made the news. I think we all know why, so I’ll skip the rhetorical question.

Attorney General Merrick Garland told Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley that he would not rescind the Department of Justice memo he issued on Oct. 4 directing the FBI and other federal agencies to investigate school board meetings, despite a memo from the National School Boards Association walking back its claims that confrontations at school board meetings could rise to the level of “domestic terrorism’ and “hate crimes.”
We’re all terrorists now. Because anyone who doesn’t agree with the Democrat controlled government is a terrorist. That’s how they feel. And they’re putting the machinery in place to enforce it.

I hate headlines like this.
I like Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), but he is in the minority in the Senate. He doesn’t have the power to “demand” anything. He can shout and pound the table, but that’s all he can do.
Merrick Garland should resign, though. If he was a decent human being he would. Of course, if he was a decent human being, he would not be trying to round up parents of school children as domestic terrorists.

You’d have to be a complete idiot to think that qualified as an insurrection. But that word describes most of the people on the left side of the aisle on Capitol Hill.
I’m sure Garland got an earful for giving the Right an easy win here.
Garland was, ostensibly, in front of the House committee to discuss the January 6th Capitol Riot, but Republicans took the opportunity to interrogate the attorney general over the NSBA letter that suggested parent complaints at school board meetings could rise to the level of “domestic terrorism” or a “hate crime,” a subsequent DOJ letter directing the FBI to investigate such confrontations, and, specifically, on the sex assault case in Loudoun County.
Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) kicked off the interrogation, demanding that Garland address the DOJ memo.
Chabot said he “found it deeply disturbing that the National School Boards Association convinced the Biden administration to sic you and your Justice Department, the FBI … on involved parents as if they were domestic terrorists.”
“I can tell you, not in a million years did we dream that one day we would see the Justice Department treat American parents as domestic terrorists,” Chabot said. “No one has the right to be violent or threaten violence … but we don’t need the vast power of the federal government throwing its weight around.”
How Garland and the Democrats thought this would fly is beyond me. They are clinically insane.
And remember the point of intimidation like this. It’s not so much to intimidate the people who are fighting now. They’re fighting the next battle. They want to stop the next group from even standing up to complain. That’s how tyrants win.
And that’s the point.
“It is the method of intimidation. His order basically states that if you’ve got a hand in these school board meetings, then you’d be investigated because he’s saying that they’re intimidating school board members,” Johnson explained.
“No, it’s the attorney general of the United States that is intimidating people exercising their rights to free speech and their right to petition their government.”
Johnson went on to say all parents across the U.S. must stand up to school boards and what they think is best for their children, not Biden and his officials. Johnson added he hopes parents are paying attention.

A new survey indicated Americans overwhelmingly think parents should be involved in their child’s education. The Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters conducted this week, found that 88 percent of respondents believe it’s very important for parents to be involved.
Meanwhile, just 10 percent of respondents said it’s only “somewhat important.” This comes after Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate parents involved in protests about school policies, accusing parents of “domestic terrorism.”
However, most respondents said protests by parents are “clearly protected by the First Amendment.”
“We are parents, and we have every right to speak passionately and publicly about our children’s education. To post on social media. To write open letter to school board members,” said Maud Maron, New York City council candidate and former prosecutor. “To submit op-eds to newspapers. To form advocacy organizations with other parents. To organize protests. To show up to school board meetings.”
Maron wrote, “that’s not domestic terrorism. It’s good parenting. It’s patriotism. And it’s a basic American right, one we all need to defend.”
Losing issue for Biden and Garland also. The Democrats will make sure their allies in the media find a new squirrel soon.

What Garland is doing here seems obvious. He doesn’t want to wade into any hot-button topics for fear of antagonizing the Senators from either party and giving some of them an excuse to not vote for him. He’s hardly the first cabinet nominee to play these games and he won’t be the last. But the guy is asking to be approved to be the chief law enforcement official in the country. If he’s really “never thought about” any of these questions and “doesn’t have an opinion” on them, how is he claiming to be qualified to do the job he’s asking for? That’s an awful lot of studying to have to do on day one to get up to speed.
I understand straddling the fence. Even SCOTUS appointees do it, often arguing “I can’t speculate on how I might rule on hypothetical cases”, but AG is a bit different. You’re the chief enforcer of the law. What does the law mean to you? How are you going to enforce it. Again, Senators can’t ask about specific points. Well, they can, but in those instances Garland is entitled to give them the finger. But explaining your thoughts on the Second Amendment is frankly a requirement for the job. If you won’t do it, you can’t have the job.
President Joe Biden’s nominee for U.S. attorney general, Merrick Garland, said during the first day of his confirmation hearing on Monday that the attacks on federal courthouses in the Pacific Northwest may not qualify as domestic terrorism because the attacks happen at night when the court is closed.
