Two More

South Carolina, Montana State School Board Associations Sever Ties with National Organization | National Review

In the wake of the National School Board Association’s letter to the Biden administration requesting federal intervention to penalize parents who protest at school-board meetings, 23 state chapters have now distanced themselves from the headquarters, and seven have disassociated altogether.

After the New Hampshire, Missouri, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio state school-board associations ended their memberships with the NSBA, citing grievances with its decision to engage the Biden administration without first consulting them, South Carolina and Montana followed their example and severed ties Monday.

Wow, I’d lost count. That’s a lot. Still nowhere near 50, though. We need more. The national organization must be neutered.

Ohio School Board Association Blasts National Group For Labeling ‘Parents As Domestic Terrorists,’ Pulls Membership | The Daily Wire

Every single state needs to do this.

The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Board of Trustees voted to end its affiliation with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) after the latter requested a federal crackdown on recent “threats” to school board members.

“The Board of Trustees’ decision was prompted by NSBA’s recent letter to President Joe Biden requesting federal intervention at local school board meetings,” OSBA Chief Executive Officer Rick Lewis said in a statement.

The OSBA’s move is the latest in a wave of criticism and backlash against the NSBA over the letter, which the national organization apologized for last week. The Pennsylvania School Boards Association was the first state-level group to rescind its membership to the NSBA on October 14.

Really the entire leadership of the NSBA needs to resign and be replaced. Only one has so far. That’s not enough.

But at least the states can do something about it. We need much more like this.

Maybe Not the Best Look For a Choice for This Position

Biden Admin Taps School Board Association Honcho For Post In Wake Of Infamous Letter (freebeacon.com)

Yeah, let’s promote the guy who wrote the letter that the entire country is up in arms over.

Does no one in Team Biden think these things through? I keep thinking he’s suffering from dementia, but maybe it’s just that he’s surrounded by complete idiots.

The Department of Education earlier this month tapped the president of the National School Boards Association to serve on a federal board that tracks student progress, the latest indication of the Biden administration’s collaboration with the group that compared parents to domestic terrorists.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on Oct. 13 appointed National School Boards Association president Viola Garcia to the National Assessment Governing Board, which develops the tests used to track student achievement across the country. Garcia was behind a Sept. 29 letter urging President Joe Biden to have the FBI monitor school board meetings for potential violence. The Department of Justice formed a task force on Oct. 4 consisting of the FBI and Justice Department’s national security and civil rights divisions, sparking outrage from parent groups who say the administration is trying to stifle parents who oppose mask mandates and left-wing curricula.

Lunatics. Really.

‘What Is Phony Exactly?’: Dan Crenshaw Hammers Obama For Dismissing Parents’ ‘Fake Outrage’ At Public Schools | The Daily Wire

What did former President Barack Obama (D-USA) say that got him into trouble?

“He’s accusing schools of brainwashing our kids,” Obama remarked.

“Here we are trying to recover from a global pandemic that has killed more than 700,000 Americans, that has shut down thousands of small businesses and put millions out of work. We don’t have time to be wasting on these phony, trumped-up culture wars, this fake outrage, the right-wing media’s pedals to juice their ratings,” Obama later said. “And the fact that he’s willing to go along with it? Instead of talking about serious problems that affect serious people? That’s a shame. That’s not what this election is about. That’s not what you need, Virginia.”

Oh yeah. That.

Critics slammed former President Barack Obama after he suggested that recent anger against school administrators in Virginia was due to “trumped-up culture wars.”

“What is phony exactly? The school rape coverup or Terry McAuliffe saying parents shouldn’t be involved in their child’s education? Shameless gaslighting to prop up a candidate the left knows is in serious trouble,” Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said.

“Virginia public schools have pushed critical race theory in the classroom, suppressed concerned parents at school board meetings, and covered up for a gender-fluid sexual predator, who allegedly raped two innocent girls,” the Manhattan Institute’s Christopher Rufo replied.

Yeah, that’s about right. Look, this isn’t fake. These are real issues. And the Democrats are on the wrong side of them. Mocking people for believing otherwise isn’t going to make the issue go away, and it’s not likely to win you any votes either.

Obama would have been better off keeping his big mouth shut.

Resign, Be Fired, Tomayto, Tomahto

Josh Hawley Demands Merrick Garland Resign: ‘Dangerous Abuse Of Authority’ | The Daily Wire

I hate headlines like this.

I like Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), but he is in the minority in the Senate. He doesn’t have the power to “demand” anything. He can shout and pound the table, but that’s all he can do.

Merrick Garland should resign, though. If he was a decent human being he would. Of course, if he was a decent human being, he would not be trying to round up parents of school children as domestic terrorists.

But let’s here what Hawley has to say.

Well, I cant disagree with that. And I notice that he didn’t demand anything. Stupid writers.

Apology Not Accepted

NSBA Apologizes For Letter Describing Potential Domestic Terrorism At School Board Meetings | The Daily Wire

On Friday, the NSBA apologized for that letter and the language it used. In addition, the association apologized for not getting prior approval from the organization’s board to send the letter.

“On behalf of NSBA, we regret and apologize for the letter,” the organization wrote in a letter to NSBA members. “To be clear, the safety of school board members, other public school officials and educators, and students is our top priority, and there remains important work to be done on this issue. However, there was no justification for some of the language included in the letter. We should have had a better process in place to allow for consultation on a communication of this significance. We apologize also for the strain and stress this situation has caused you and your organizations.”

I’m glad you’re contrite, but let’s be clear. You made your opinions known the first time. I don’t believe that your opinions have changed. This is CYA.

Apology not accepted.

Well, Maybe You Should Learn About Such Things Before You Start Calling Parents ”Domestic Terrorists”

Merrick Garland Grilled On Loudoun Case, Says He ‘Doesn’t Know’ About Alleged Sex Assault | The Daily Wire

Garland was, ostensibly, in front of the House committee to discuss the January 6th Capitol Riot, but Republicans took the opportunity to interrogate the attorney general over the NSBA letter that suggested parent complaints at school board meetings could rise to the level of “domestic terrorism” or a “hate crime,” a subsequent DOJ letter directing the FBI to investigate such confrontations, and, specifically, on the sex assault case in Loudoun County.

Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) kicked off the interrogation, demanding that Garland address the DOJ memo.

Chabot said he “found it deeply disturbing that the National School Boards Association convinced the Biden administration to sic you and your Justice Department, the FBI … on involved parents as if they were domestic terrorists.”

“I can tell you, not in a million years did we dream that one day we would see the Justice Department treat American parents as domestic terrorists,” Chabot said.  “No one has the right to be violent or threaten violence … but we don’t need the vast power of the federal government throwing its weight around.”

How Garland and the Democrats thought this would fly is beyond me. They are clinically insane.

Thank God for Republican AG’s

17 State AGs Condemn DOJ Targeting School Board Meetings: Trying To ‘Chill Lawful Dissent By Parents’ | The Daily Wire

The attorneys general of 17 U.S. states have formed a coalition denouncing the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for attempting to “chill lawful dissent by parents voiced during local school board meetings.”

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and 16 other state chief legal officers signed a letter to President Joe Biden on Monday, blasting the president over an October 4 DOJ memo directing the FBI to investigate and potentially crack down on “a disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence” at local school board meetings. Rokita’s letter was cosigned by the attorneys general of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

The state attorneys general accused the Biden administration of targeting parents with the memo and attempting to chill criticism of progressive school curriculum and strict COVID policies such as school mask mandates. The joint letter states that the DOJ memo violates parents’ First Amendment and 14th Amendment rights by suppressing free speech and unduly interfering in a parent’s right to raise his child.

We have to fight this administration on everything and on every front. We can’t give up an inch of ground anywhere.

Parents Fight Back

EPIC: 427,000 Parents Respond to National School Board Association Labeling Them 'Domestic Terrorists' – PJ Media

Joint Statement In Response to National School Board Association Accusation of Parents Engaging in 'Domestic Terrorism' - Parents Defending Education

Ms. Viola M. Garcia and Mr. Chip Slaven
National School Board Association
1680 Duke St Fl. 2
Alexandria, VA 22314

Sent via Electronic Mail (info@nsba.org)

Dear Ms. Garcia and Mr. Slaven,
On behalf of our 427,000 members, the undersigned organizations write in response to your September 29th letter to President Biden requesting “federal assistance to stop threats and acts of violence” against school board members, school officials, and teachers.
In that letter you requested that the federal government “investigate, intercept, and prevent the
current threats and acts of violence against our public school officials through existing statutes,
executive authority, interagency and intergovernmental task forces, and other extraordinary measures”
and that the government leverage “the expertise and resources of the U.S. Department of Justice,
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, and its
National Threat Assessment Center.”
NSBA cites a tiny number of minor incidents in order to insinuate that parents who are criticizing and
protesting the decisions of school boards are engaging in, or may be engaging in, “domestic terrorism
and hate crimes.” NSBA even invokes the PATRIOT Act. The association of legitimate protest with
terrorism and violence reveals both your contempt for parents and your unwillingness to understand
and hear the sincere cries of parents on behalf of their children. To equate parents with terrorists
dishonors the thousands of victims of actual terrorism around the world. Have you no shame?
Your letter to President Biden is a thinly veiled threat, intended to intimidate into silence and
submission the very constituents that your members ostensibly represent.
Our organizations unequivocally oppose violence and find it deeply troubling that you imply otherwise
about concerned citizens who care deeply about their community’s children – and who are concerned
by the direction that America’s schools have taken.
Citizens are angry that school boards and school officials around the country are restricting access to
public meetings, limiting public comment, and in some cases conducting business via text messages in
violation of state open meetings laws. They are angry that schools are charging them thousands of
dollars in public records requests to view curriculum and training materials that impact their children
and that should be open to the public by default. They are angry that pandemic-related learning losses
have compounded the already-low reading, writing, and math proficiency rates in America’s schools.
They are angry that rather than focusing on declining student achievement, large numbers of districts
have chosen to fund, often with hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money, “social justice”
and “diversity, equity, and inclusion” programs with finite resources.
Your members refuse to listen to these concerns – and your association has chosen to smear their
constituents rather than engage with them in good faith. It is appalling that you would choose to
threaten your fellow Americans for having the courage to hold you accountable for your failures.
We will not be bullied. We will not have our speech chilled. We have a constitutional right to petition
our elected officials, and we will continue to do so.
We ask that your organization – and your members – engage respectfully and constructively with the
country’s parents, grandparents, and concerned citizens so that we might work together to address and
improve the quality of America’s public education system for all children.
Sincerely,
Parents Defending Education

I Don’t Know, Maybe an Insurrection Is Actually What We Need

Concerned parents are now “domestic terrorists”. I think our government is made up of “domestic terrorists”.

Concerned Parents Are 'Immediate Threat' Says National School Boards Association President—Some Are Even Domestic Terrorists! – PJ Media

This won’t end well.

It’s completely understandable that many parents around the country are fed up. They’re fed up with not only the onerous and arbitrary pandemic-related safety measures but also the racist and radical left-wing ideologies being forced upon kids in our taxpayer-funded schools. America’s parents are concerned and pushing back.

What’s not so understandable (unless you’re a leftist) is the reaction to the pushback by those in the top echelons of our educational system. Case in point, on Thursday, National School Board Association (NSBA) president Viola Garcia sent out a hysterical—yet revealing—letter not to school board members or parents, but to the president of the United States, Joe Biden.

What was in the letter?

Not only does Garcia, blame parents for “threats and intimidations” instead of her own failed leftist school boards, but she also raises the crazy bar to high by equating upset parents’ attempts to speak at school board meetings as “equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.” She even calls for numerous federal law enforcement agencies to target those parents.

“NSBA specifically solicits the expertise and resources of the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, and its National Threat Assessment Center regarding the level of risk to public school children, educators, board members, and facilities/campuses,” Garcia writes. “We also request the assistance of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to intervene against threatening letters and cyberbullying attacks that have been transmitted to students, school board members, district administrators, and other educators.”

Wow. That’s a whole lotta crazy in two mere paragraphs. I think Ms. Garcia needs to take a long sabbatical and seek professional help.
