Remember When Greece Was An Economic Disaster?

It isn’t now.

How Greece got back on course | Power Line (powerlineblog.com)

Why?

Because conservatism triumphs over socialism.

But in 2019, the Greeks dumped the leftist government of Alexis Tsipras and replaced it with a center-right government led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The result has been a rapid improvement of fortune. Giving credit where it is due, Weymouth observes that “today, things have turned around, and the country is growing at 6 percent, thanks in part of the stewardship of. . .Mitsotakis.”

And to bring it home.

I fell in love with Greece when we visited it three years ago. Back then, the economy was still a mess, and visibly so even to tourists like us. I’m delighted that the conservative government has turned things around rather dramatically, the pandemic notwithstanding.

There’s a lesson in that.

There is a lesson in that. One that I hope we don’t have to learn the same say Greece did.

I Can’t See Socialism Paying off in Casino-Happy Nevada

Civil War Among Nevada Democrats Could Pay Off Big For GOP – PJ Media

For the last year, Nevada Democrats have been warring with each other over the past and future of their party.

Senator Harry Reid, the state’s most successful politician, built a Democratic machine in the late 1990s and early 21st century that dominated local and national races up and down the ballot. But the machine suffered some setbacks in 2018 and 2020, leaving an opening for radicals to take control.

The Democratic Socialists of America took over the party, and the Harry Reid faction didn’t much like it. They’ve been at war ever since.

Nevada is one of the rare states where party doesn’t really matter all that much.

The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) matters. They are the most powerful lobby in Nevada. What they say, goes.

If the NGC likes a candidate, that candidate wins. If they don’t, that candidate loses.

There is no way the NGC is ever going to support a socialist group or a socialist candidate. They want candidates who will bring dollars and tourists to the state. Harry Reid understood that, and as Minority and Majority Leader, he had the power to do something about it.

So, the NGC mostly left Harry Reid alone. He had his marching orders, and as long as he followed them, everything was fine.

The NGC will get behind whatever candidate, regardless of party, who they believe will do as told. And that candidate will not be a socialist.

I Am Sure They Wouldn’t Be Saying This if Trump Were Still President

Washington Post Op-Ed: Don’t ‘Whine’ About Supply Chain Shortages, Empty Shelves | The Daily Wire

We call this, “protecting the Democrat President”, not “unbiased journalism”.

Across the country, Americans’ expectations of speedy service and easy access to consumer products have been crushed like a Styrofoam container in a trash compactor. Time for some new, more realistic expectations.

Fast food is less fast. A huge flotilla of container ships is stuck offshore in California, waiting to unload. Shelves normally stocked with Halloween candy this time of year are empty, as I saw the other day at a Target here in Ann Arbor, Mich.

American consumers, their expectations pampered and catered to for decades, are not accustomed to inconvenience.

No, we aren’t used to it. We’re used to living in the greatest country in the world. The greatest economic power the world has ever seen. The country that transformed the entire world in about 100 years. We’re not accustomed to socialist economic failures. And we don’t want to become accustomed to that.

Shame on you for trying to make us feel guilty about American Greatness and for trying to make uses feel we deserve less. Whose side are you on, anyway?

The Washington Post isn’t worthy of being used as a place for your dogs to $#!+.
