Joe Biden—Man of the People

Biden Signs Major Executive Order That Puts An End To Trump's Industry Apprenticeship Program (lifezette.com)

President Joe Biden just signed an executive order that revokes an order made by Donald Trump in which the former president gave federal funds to apprenticeship programs that are created by industries, calling for more government-controlled alternatives.

Trump signed Executive Order 13801, Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (IRAPs),  back in 2017. This order made it possible for “trade and industry groups, companies, non-profit organizations, unions, and joint labor-management organizations” to create their own apprenticeship programs that would be used to help workers develop the skills that the economy needed but that universities are either not providing, or are providing at a cost that is unaffordable for many Americans.

I can’t think of a single good reason to do this. President Trump’s (R-USA) executive order provided true assistance to working class Americans at almost no cost to the government. I can understand if you think more needs to be done, but why would you rescind what’s already in effect, and not just expand on it?

There are no good reasons. So, I’m left to speculate on bad ones. There are lots of those.

You Know What Would Reduce Their Stress Even More? Not Breaking the Law!

Deportation warnings halted because they cause ‘undue stress’ on illegal migrants (washingtonexaminer.com)

In a further reversal of Trump policies, the Biden administration has ordered immigration officials to stop warning illegal migrants caught trying to scam the system that they might face deportation because it causes “undue stress.”

The new ruling from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services essentially locks in President Biden’s wishes to end the deportation of illegal immigrants, even if they are caught lying about their applications for U.S. taxpayer-funded services, a green card or asylum.

The order arrived in an email Wednesday that said officers are no longer to tell those denied immigration benefits — called a “customer” — that they have to return for a court date and likely deportation. It is called a Notice to Appear, or NTA.

“This guidance will ensure the agency is not placing undue stress on the customer who believes he/she may or may not receive an NTA based on the information provided in their denial notification,” said the email from the agency’s Service Center Operations Directorate. A copy was provided to Secrets.

Paying taxes causes me “undue stress”. Some years, I suspect it’s far more stressful to me than their fear of deportation is to them. Do you think I can get a waiver?

No?

I wonder if we’ll no longer be able to arrest people who commit violent crimes because the threat of imprisonment might cause them “undue stress”?

Tell me there’s a difference here. You’re lying if you do.

Well, this is What Happens When You Attempt to Rule by Fiat

Texas pushes back against Biden’s deportation halt – The New Neo

Attorney General Ken Paxton today commended the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas for granting a nationwide temporary restraining order halting implementation of the Biden Administration’s unlawful order to the Department of Homeland Security to freeze virtually all deportations of illegal aliens.

This is the same sort of court ruling that we consistently got during the Trump administration. There are some problems with it, but on the balance, a takedown of improper use of power by the President is a good thing.

Since President Barack Obama (D-USA) declared that he had “a pen and a phone”, Presidents have been much more likely to try to find a way to go around Congress and rule by Executive Order. This is a practice that must be curtailed, regardless of any short term benefits. We have an elected Congress for a reason. This is something that both Republicans and Democrats should be able to get behind.

Biden’s Executive Order on Keystone XL in Jeopardy Because of…DACA?

Wouldn’t that drive the liberals bananas?

This Legal Hurdle Could Trip Up Biden’s Cancellation of Keystone Pipeline (dailysignal.com)

President Barack Obama’s executive action, which allowed illegal immigrants brought to the United States as minors to  stay legally under certain circumstances, created an expectation among people in the country. Thus, if the U.S. government wanted to scrap the DACA policy, it would have to go through an administrative procedure.

This created a “reliance interest” in the policy, the majority opinion by Chief Justice John Roberts said.

TC Energy and the Canadian government likely also would have a reliance interest, said Canaparo, who has been researching potential legal avenues for the pipeline case:

In DHS v. Regents, the court found that Trump couldn’t rescind DACA even though it was an executive action, because there was a reliance interest. That could be a stumbling block for Biden with regard to the Keystone pipeline. … The administration did not consider any reliance interest.

I might not be able to get to sleep tonight from giggling.
