This Seems Self-Defeating

Nothing Green Ever Works: the perfect six-step environmental virtue loop | Daily Telegraph

Forgive me for quoting the article in near entirety, but this needs to be seen.

One: Britain goes big on wind turbines in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from traditional power sources.

Two: The wind don't blow and the power don’t flow.

Three: A subsequent massive increase in demand for natural gas as a power source drives wholesale gas prices through the roof.

Four: CF Fertilisers, a US-owned British fertiliser business that also produces carbon dioxide for commercial use, suspends production because high gas prices have made the business unprofitable.

Five: Carbon dioxide is a required component for meat packaging. Without reliable supplies of commercial carbon dioxide, Britain faces a food shortage.

Six: The British government, which spent millions of pounds to cut carbon dioxide emissions, will now give millions of pounds to CF Fertilisers so it can produce carbon dioxide.

Perfect.

Someone didn’t think this through.

Acosta Just Says What the Rest of the Left Won’t Say Out Loud

Jim Acosta: Anyone Attending Trump Rally Is 'Twisted, Evil' - Victory Girls Blog

This is just Hillary’s “basket full of deplorables” with different wording. They hate us. They really hate us. They have no respect for us. They don’t want us in their country. They want us to die.

This is the peaceful tolerant Left.

And if Acosta is really worried about “building a nation of bullies” and wants to fix it, he can take some advice from the late Michael Jackson.

Jen Psaki Channels Her Inner Bertolt Brecht

From Psaki:

Jen Psaki Blames Part Of The American Public For Biden’s Plummeting Poll Numbers | The Daily Wire

“Well, look, I would say that this is a really tough time in our country. We’re still battling COVID, and a lot of people thought we’d be through it, including us,” Psaki responded. “And we — because of the rise of the Delta variant, because of the fact that even though it was a vaccine that was approved under a Republican administration, even though we now have full FDA approval, and even though it’s widely available across the country, we still have a quarter of the country who have — less than that — 20 percent of the country who’ve decided not to get vaccinated. No question that’s having an impact.”

From Brecht:

After the uprising of the 17th June
The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?

Olympic Diver Tom Daley: Nations That ‘Punish Being Gay With Death’ Should Be Barred From Olympics | The Daily Wire

But it would mean that many of the Left’s favorite countries wouldn’t be able to attend.

I’ll just let you think on that for a moment.

On Wednesday, while accepting Attitude’s Sport Award, British Olympic diver Tom Daley used a significant portion of his speech to decry the fact that certain countries that punish homosexuals with death are allowed to participate in the Olympics.

Daley, who won a gold medal in the 10m synchro in Tokyo, as well as a bronze in the 10m platform, said in part:

… there are still ten countries that punish being gay with death, that were still allowed to compete at the Olympic Games — and I think that is quite shocking to a lot of people.

He makes a great point. He’s going to try to make it happen for 2024. I wish him luck.

Merriam-Webster Thought Police Just Changed The Definition Of 'Anti-Vaxxer' To Attack Opponents Of Government Mandates (thefederalist.com)

Merriam-Webster expanded the definition of the word “anti-vaxxer” to encompass people who do not believe government bureaucrats have the authority to force shot mandates on individuals.

According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, the definition for the popular abbreviation of “anti-vaccine” not only describes “a person who opposes the use of vaccines” but also anyone who opposes “regulations mandating vaccination.”

This Makes Perfect Sense Considering the Horrendous Border Crisis

DHS cancels border wall contracts with CBP Laredo, Rio Grande Valley sectors | One America News Network (oann.com)

It’s a perfect time to stop building The Wall!

Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has continued to reverse the Trump administration’s efforts to secure the southern border through the construction of a border wall. On Friday, the DHS released a statement to announce it was canceling all remaining barrier contracts with the CBP’s Laredo and Rio Grande sectors.

Instead, the agency said it would conduct environmental research on areas where border wall construction did not start.

“Environmental planning activities will cover projects funded with DHS’s Fiscal Year 2018 to 2021 barrier system appropriations where construction had not started,” the statement read.  “These activities include additional biological, cultural, and natural resource surveys for project areas where no data have been previously collected. ”

Of course all of these studies have already been done. There’s no waste like government waste.

McConnell Channels His Inner Picard

Biden Warned In Letter Ripping Schumer’s Speech: ‘Even Democratic Senators Were Visibly Embarrassed’ | The Daily Wire

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wrote a scathing letter to President Joe Biden on Friday informing the president that Republicans would not bail out Democrats again if they failed to raise the debt limit by themselves.

McConnell’s letter also called out Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer’s (D-NY) speech on the Senate floor on Thursday evening, which was widely criticized after Schumer attacked Republicans despite Republicans having thrown him a lifeline to get out of a situation that would have been bad for the Democratic Party.

McConnell began:

Last night, Republicans filled the leadership vacuum that has troubled the Senate since January. I write to inform you that I will not provide such assistance again if your all-Democrat government drifts into another avoidable crisis.

The Senate Democratic Leader had three months’ notice to handle one of his most basic governing duties. Amazingly, even this proved to be asking too much. Senator Schumer spent 11 weeks claiming he lacked the time and the leadership skills to manage a straightforward process that would take less than two weeks. Whether through weakness or an intentional effort to bully his own members, Senator Schumer marched the nation to the doorstep of disaster. Embarrassingly, it got to the point where Senators on both sides were pleading for leadership to fill the void and protect our citizens. I stepped up.

Or, in other words:

Read the whole thing. McConnell’s letter is quite brutal and makes it clear that the Democrats can’t count on the Republicans to bail them out again.

I am writing to make it clear that in light of Senator Schumer’s hysterics and my grave concerns about the ways that another vast, reckless, partisan spending bill would hurt Americans and help China, I will not be a party to any further effort to mitigate the consequences of Democratic mismanagement. Your lieutenants on Capitol Hill now have the time they claimed they lacked to address the debt ceiling through standalone reconciliation, and all the tools to do it. They cannot invent another crisis and ask for my help.
