A month after the Senate issued a bipartisan report flagging oversight failures by government contractors that house migrant children, the Biden administration awarded new contracts worth tens of millions of dollars to two of those organizations.

Awarding of the contracts prompted particular concern from Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee.

“The fact that taxpayer money keeps flowing without any guarantee of reforms or commitments to improving facility oversight from [the Department of Health and Human Services] is just unacceptable,” Grassley told The Daily Signal in a statement late Friday.

The senators point out that $1.9 billion of funding for a border wall has been moved elsewhere in the budget, while Customs and Border Protection has only $14.5 billion in its budget line item, which is a fraction of the funding the department asked for. The letter also mentions a $50 million line item for removing existing border walls from federal land.

The crisis at our border with Mexico continues to boil over. The Democrats can ignore it all they want, but it’s not going away. They can continue to divert funding to — in the words of their own bill summary — “more effective, and less costly investments,” but the border walls constructed under the Trump administration proved effective.

I like the approach though. It won’t change the bills, but it will keep the border crisis front and center. Democrats want to pretend it doesn’t exist, but it’s clear the GOP isn’t going to let them get away with that.

Apprehensions along the U.S.–Mexico border in October set a new record for the month, unpublished data obtained by The Epoch Times show.

Border Patrol logged about 163,000 arrests of illegal immigrants at the northern and southern borders, according to preliminary data that doesn’t include Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Field Operations (OFO). While arrests at the U.S.–Canadian border are typically less than 100 each month, the OFO has recently recorded at least 5,096 arrests per month.

While the total apprehensions are down from the previous month, they established a new record for October, easily clearing the 91,410 arrests recorded in October of 1999 and well above the figures seen during recent administrations.

And this follows a fiscal year that shattered every record since the Border Patrol agency was first formed in 1925, according to another report from The Epoch Times:

Border Patrol agents apprehended a total of 1,666,167 illegal immigrants along the southwest border in fiscal 2021—breaking all records since the agency was formed in 1925 (when 22,199 illegal aliens were arrested).

The left wants open borders. Don’t let them lie to you about that. If you don’t, then don’t vote for them.

After objecting to the inconsistency of Biden’s immigration policies, Scott was “pushed out” of his position as chief. “I was told in June that I was going to be moved out of the chief’s position,” explained Scott. “I was told that they … really wanted me to stay, really wanted me to be part of the team, and that they would give me any field leadership position that I wanted if I was willing to stay.” When he asked why they would trust him in one of those alternate positions when they clearly no longer trusted him as chief, Scott said he “got a very weird nonsensical answer.” As a result, Scott felt if he stayed on, the Biden Administration would “control [his] voice” and he knew “the threat of what was going on was too severe,” concerning national security. After 29 years, Scott chose to retire so he could be free to sound the alarm bells to both Congress and the American people about what’s really going on at our southern border.

He just has some wonderful information about those caravans we keep seeing.

Nothing is allowed to cross “the southwest border without the approval of or without paying the cartel,” Scott said. So, in certain locations, these massive migrant groups are used by the cartels as a tool to flood an area in order to draw CBP agents away from other border areas.

“The Del Rio Bridge is a perfect extreme example,” explained Scott. “Hundreds of miles of the border were evacuated by U.S. Border Patrol for days,” he emphasized. “There were literally hundreds of miles of the U.S. border where we have no idea what crossed for days.” While the media and CBP focused on Del Rio, “the cartel was bringing fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and people that aren’t willing to surrender across that border,” Scott said.

In an interview on Thursday, Texas Rep. Troy Nehls (R) praised the undertaking, saying that Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) has found a resourceful way to curb the approaching caravan. He said they’re strategically placing the containers to channel migrants into areas where more police and Border Patrol agents are available.

“It’s a tool that the governor is using to try to help slow down, curb this invasion, this invasion that we’re seeing at our southern border,” said Nehls.

There is a total of 1,250 miles of border in Texas. Nehls said it’s a lot of area to cover, but Texas is doing the federal government’s job for them because they refuse to do it on their own.

I applaud Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) for doing this. I hope other states follow suit.

Earlier this fall, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, frustrated and angry at the Biden regime’s purposeful inaction on securing the border, stepped up and issued a threat: He will use his authority and empower his own personnel to start arresting illegal aliens in the absence of federal enforcement.

“By virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas, I hereby order that the Texas National Guard assist DPS in enforcing Texas law by arresting lawbreakers at the border,” Abbott’s letter to  Texas Adjutant General Major Gen. Tracy Norris said in July, when he first issued the order.

This is awesome. I am so sick of Republican Politicians who just bend over and take it from the Left. We have some GOP Governors and even Congress folks with some intestinal fortitude and spines. Maybe this bodes well for 2022 and 2024. I refuse to get my hopes up though.

Still, this is good news at least. Maybe the border situation will get a little bit better.

Nearly 500 law enforcement officers attempted to block their path Saturday at a highway checkpoint in southern Mexico, but most migrants—carrying American flags or signs with President Joe Biden’s name—broke past.

They had been waiting for months in brutal heat near the Guatemala-Mexico border for asylum papers that would allow them to travel through Mexico. (Mexico requires migrants seeking humanitarian visas or asylum to wait at the border while their cases are processed.) But frustrated by delays, they pushed through the police force and continued on a more than 1,000-mile journey toward Texas.

Do you really think all of these people will get Visas? Will they stop at border crossings and show passports? I think you can assume not. They will cross the border illegally, bringing the China virus with them.

Democrat President Joe Biden’s border crisis reached a new level on Friday as data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) showed that the Border Patrol has made approximately 1.66 million arrests of illegal aliens entering the U.S. from Mexico for Fiscal Year 2021.

“Border crossings surpassed 1.6 million annually at least twice recently, in 1986 and in 2000,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “In 2019, when crossings reached a peak under the Trump administration, the Border Patrol made about 850,000 arrests.”

So, it’s twice as bad as it was the last year under Trump, and getting worse. This has reached humanitarian crisis levels now.

It’s embarrassing to say, but we may need the UN to step in and assist. We clearly can’t do it on our own. Or at least the current administration can’t.

The incompetence in Afghanistan of turning Afghanistan over to the terrorists, the Taliban, will allow Al Qaeda and ISIS to roam freely and an open border are going to meet one day and some terrorist is going to take advantage of this system, come here and kill a bunch of us if we don’t change.”

“Joe Biden is criminally negligent. His administration, I think, is criminally negligent when it comes to controlling our border,” he continued. “Our men and women of the Border Patrol and ICE are under siege. They’re American heroes. You just would not believe what it’s like to work along the border. I don’t know how they do it and they’ve been completely abandoned by President Biden. He should be impeached over this. This is dereliction of duty and a bunch of Americans are going to get killed if we don’t change our policies quickly.”

It’s really hard to argue with any of that.

Abbott said that Biden’s reversal of the previous administration’s policies has led to “catastrophic” results on the border, including Mexican cartels becoming even more aggressive.

“And the cartels on the Mexican side of the border, they’re beginning to open fire on the National Guard that Texas has down on the border to secure the border,” Abbott said. “This is escalating into a firing war on each side of the border where Texas and our National Guard are having to defend themselves and defend the state of Texas.”

Abbott said that the hottest point of activity right now is in Starr County “where the cartels on the Mexican side of the border are shooting at the National Guard on the Texas side of the border.”

“And so what Texas is having to do, we’re having to step up and guard multiple points across the entire border,” Abbott said. “The Biden administration has completely abandoned all the people who live on the border, and they’ve abandoned people in the state of Texas[.]

This is dereliction of duty.

This actually is an impeachable offense. It’s quite a bit worse than making a phone call.

It’s a perfect time to stop building The Wall!

Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has continued to reverse the Trump administration’s efforts to secure the southern border through the construction of a border wall. On Friday, the DHS released a statement to announce it was canceling all remaining barrier contracts with the CBP’s Laredo and Rio Grande sectors.

Instead, the agency said it would conduct environmental research on areas where border wall construction did not start.

“Environmental planning activities will cover projects funded with DHS’s Fiscal Year 2018 to 2021 barrier system appropriations where construction had not started,” the statement read.  “These activities include additional biological, cultural, and natural resource surveys for project areas where no data have been previously collected. ”

Of course all of these studies have already been done. There’s no waste like government waste.

Constitutionally, Border Control Is Under the Purview of State Governments, Not the Feds

That’s what my Libertarian friends have been telling me for years, anyway. That’s why they’re “open borders” people. They aren’t. They just don’t want the Federal Government involved.

Ten Republican governors gathered in Mission, Texas, on Wednesday where they unveiled a 10-point plan to end Democrat President Joe Biden’s border crisis.

The event comes as the administration has faced catastrophic levels of illegal immigration on the U.S. southern border. Many directly blame Biden for the crisis, saying that his policies and messaging has created enormous incentive for migrants to illegally enter the U.S.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott was joined at the press conference by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Idaho Governor Brad Little, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon.

The problem is that their “plan” isn’t really a plan at all. Most of the 10 points are just telling Biden what to do, not doing anything themselves. The things that they are doing themselves will likely face a court challenge from Biden, I would guess.

Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich drew attention to ABC News on Tuesday for editing an interview with former President Barack Obama to omit his assessment that open borders were “unsustainable.”

“Immigration is tough,” Obama told Good Morning America in a portion of the interview that was cut from television but quoted in the 12th paragraph of a story on ABC’s website. “It always has been because, on the one hand, I think we are naturally a people that wants to help others. … At the same time, we’re a nation state. We have borders. The idea that we can just have open borders is something that … as a practical matter, is unsustainable.”

The Border Crisis is intentional.

But someone forgot to tell Barack that. Either that or he’s actually smart enough to realize it’s a stupid idea.

For once, I’ll give Barack the benefit of the doubt.
