When someone presents an argument, just repeating over and over “no it’s not” is not an effective rebuttal.

Scott said:

“I think what Democrats will continue to do is talk about Donald Trump and Republicans will continue to talk about issues. Glenn Youngkin won his race because he talked about issues and I think that’s what’s going to happen,” Scott began. “We’re going to see just like in Virginia Terry McAuliffe wanted to say there’s nothing about Critical Race Theory. We know it’s true. Parents know their kids are being indoctrinated with Critical Race Theory in Virginia and Democrats wanted to deny it. And so parents showed up because they don’t like being lied to.”

Keilar:

“just to be clear, it’s not in the curriculum in Virginia.”

Scott:

That’s when Scott cited evidence from Virginia’s Department of Education website that shows CRT has been part of public schools’ curriculum even when Terry McAuliffe was last governor.

Scott went on to cite examples of the concept being taught in Virginia public schools and said he hopes Democrats keep saying that they are not promoting CRT even when the evidence suggests they do because “parents are not stupid.”

“I think parents are smart. My parents didn’t have much of a formal education, but they cared about what I learned. Parents are smart,” Scott said. “They know that the Virginia Department of Education promoted critical race theory and Terry McAuliffe said they didn’t. I hope Democrats keep doing that all across the country,” he added.

However, Keilar jumped in again to repeat, “To be clear, it’s not part of the curriculum.”

Metallurgist admits faking steel-test results for Navy subs | Miami Herald

This is the kind of thing that would have happened to the Soviets in one of his novels.

A metallurgist in Washington state pleaded guilty to fraud Monday after she spent decades faking the results of strength tests on steel that was being used to make U.S. Navy submarines.

Elaine Marie Thomas, 67, of Auburn, Washington, was the director of metallurgy at a foundry in Tacoma that supplied steel castings used by Navy contractors Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding to make submarine hulls.

From 1985 through 2017, Thomas falsified the results of strength and toughness tests for at least 240 productions of steel — about half the steel the foundry produced for the Navy, according to her plea agreement, filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Tacoma. The tests were intended to show that the steel would not fail in a collision or in certain “wartime scenarios," the Justice Department said.

Decades.

No, it’s not transitory. It has definite and obvious causes. Until you address the root causes, inflation is here to stay. Team Biden isn’t doing that.

The minister and singer’s beef began after Morrison’s gig in Belfast was canceled as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Morrison was still able to perform and used the opportunity to take shots at the minister.

“Robin Swann has all the power. So I say Robin Swann is very dangerous,” Morison told the audience. He also allegedly tried to get the crowd to chant “Robin Swann is very dangerous.”

Morrison doubled down on the remarks, posting a YouTube video saying, “No, I don’t regret it. Of course he’s dangerous.” He added that the health minister was a “fraud.”

Of the 15 largest metropolitan areas in the US, Seattle is apparently the most stressed out.

The city has the highest percentage of adult residents who reported feeling “nervous, anxious or on edge” for at least several days in the last two weeks, The Seattle Times reported, citing data from the Census Bureau.

According to the newspaper, the data comes from a survey conducted by the bureau’s Household Pulse Survey from Sept. 29 to Oct. 11.

If I lived in a far left city in a far left state, I’d be stressed out too. I’d be wondering what I could do to get the heck out.

“Simulation of sea surface temperature based on non-sampling error and psychological intervention of music education”; “Distribution of earthquake activity in mountain area based on embedded system and physical fitness detection of basketball”; “The stability of rainfall conditions based on sensor networks and the effect of psychological intervention for patients with urban anxiety disorder.” A complete list of the retracted papers can be found here.

These were all “peer-reviewed” papers.

No, of course not. They knew it was false at the time. Truth wasn’t the purpose. Harming Trump was the purpose and it served its purpose admirably.

Erik Wemple has really done an exemplary job of holding onto the receipts for all the media’s sunny claims about the Steele dossier. With the recent indictment of Igor Danchenko, Wemple is once again pointing out that the people who hyped the document don’t seem nearly as eager to correct the record. His article today covers some of the same ground I covered here, such as the fact that one of Steele’s sources turned out to be a Democratic strategist at a PR firm named Charles Dolan Jr. But Wemple also points to another one of Steele’s alleged sources, a man named Sergei Millian.

Danchenko never spoke to Millian. Danchenko apparently fabricated the claims of a phone call. So given that the previous stories and the indictment can’t both be correct, Wemple asks all three outlets that published those previous stories the obvious question: Will the stories be corrected/retracted? None of the sites, not even his own, would answer the question:

The Wall Street Journal on Friday published a story noting that the indictment contradicted the newspaper’s original reporting on Millian. “We will continue to follow the Danchenko case closely and report updates as they develop,” a Journal spokesperson said in a statement. We asked the Journal if it intended to add an editor’s note/correction/retraction to the January 2017 story. A spokesperson declined to elaborate.

Read the whole thing. I can’t do it justice in quoting. The point is that many of the most “explosive” of the Russia stories have now been shown to be unequivocally false. The news organizations must retract these stories, if they have any kind of ethics.

They won’t. But they should.

A reporter asked Jean-Pierre what else the administration could do “besides tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve” to combat rising gas prices.

“You know, we have — we don’t have an announcement yet on anything — anything to share at this time,” she responded. “You know, but we’re monitoring it. Right? We’re monitoring the prices and we’re making sure that we have tools in our toolbelts that we can — we can — we can try and use. But at this time, I don’t have anything new to share.”

“But just what else are you reviewing?” the reporter pressed. “Because [Energy] Secretary [Jennifer] Granholm has confirmed that is an option that’s on the table, and the President has said there are other tools that you could potentially use. So, could you just lay out what those other options are that he’s considering?”

“So I don’t — again, I don’t — I don’t have anything specific here,” she responded. “The President spoke to this recently. But he’s also asked the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) to crack down on illegal pricing. Right? That is one thing that he did on gouging in the market.  And the FTC is responding. But, also, we’re going to continue to monitor the situation and have a number of tools in our arsenal. As I just mentioned, I don’t have anything specific.”

Tapping the Strategic Oil Reserve is an exceptionally bad idea, so I’m sure that will be first on their list.

Accuser details sex assault allegations against CNN's Don Lemon (nypost.com)

Accuser Dustin Hice made the comments on Monday’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” even as Lemon’s attorneys have fought back against Hice’s lawsuit in court filings, accusing the ex-bartender of withholding texts, deleting social media posts and hiding a witness who contradicted his claims.

Hice claimed in his suit that Lemon had put his hand down his own pants, rubbed his private parts and then shoved his fingers into Hice’s face.

Well, that’s quite…interesting. Always knew Don Lemon was not a class act. Now we have alleged proof.
