Build Back Better Back to the Drawing Board

BREAKING: Joe Manchin Just Killed the Build Back Better Act – PJ Media

After months of negotiations failed to achieve an adequate compromise, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) declared on Sunday that there’s no way he can support Joe Biden’s big government socialist agenda, known as the Build Back Better Act.

Manchin said on Fox News Sunday that he worked hard to reach an acceptable compromise.

According to Manchin, the legislation being pursued by Democrats was just too much on top of historic inflation, the national debt, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’ve done everything humanly possible,” he said. “When you have these things coming at you the way they are right now … I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation.”

“This is a no,” he added. “I have tried everything I know to do.”

With the U.S. Senate split 50-50, Joe Biden needed every single Democrat to back the legislation. With Joe Manchin officially declaring he cannot support the bill, The Build Back Better Act is, at least for now, dead.

“I’ve done everything humanly possible.”

“This is a no.”

“I’ve tried everything I know to do.”

Manchin wants to be a good Democrat. I’m sure he generally wishes he could vote for the bill. But it has too many problems, too many things in it that are unacceptable to him.

Inflation Is Already Hitting Businesses Hard, so Let’s Kick Them While They’re Down

Top CEOs Wary Of Biden Tax Hikes, New Coronavirus Variants | The Daily Wire

“We urge Congress to reject harmful tax increases like those included in the House-passed Build Back Better Act, which would be a shift in the wrong direction for our economy, American businesses and workers,” said Bolten, who also lauded the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act as “an important investment in the long-term health of the economy.”

“This quarter’s survey reflects the encouraging signs we’re seeing with the economic rebound as consumers begin to resume travel and spending,” added Business Roundtable Chairman Doug McMillon, who serves as CEO of Walmart. “Continued progress in defeating the pandemic, including new variants, will be necessary to sustain strong growth into the second half of 2022.”

Inflation is causing business costs to skyrocket, not just in terms of goods and services needed, but also many businesses are being forced to pay their employees more. This means that they must also raise their prices or be forced to suffer losses. Increasing their tax burdens will only make things worse.

When You’re a Democrat President and You’ve Lost the New York Times

SHOCKER: NYT Throws Cold Water on Biden’s Massive Infrastructure Bill | Newsbusters

Independent journalist Ralph Vartabedian wrote an eye-opening analysis for The Times critiquing the bill as extremely risky. He cited the major cost escalation problems that plagued one of Honolulu, Hawaii’s infrastructure projects as a case study for how the dilemma with “big infrastructure” is exacerbated when applied nationally.

Vartabedian said the “national spending spree fueled” by Biden’s $1.2 trillion bill “carries enormous risks that the projects will face the same kind of cost, schedule and technical problems that have hobbled ambitious efforts from New York to Seattle, delaying benefits to the public and driving up the price tag that taxpayers ultimately will bear.”

Talk about a buzzkill for media liberals like Joy Behar and New York Times economist Paul Krugman who’ve been whipping out the pompoms for Biden’s infrastructure efforts in past months.

Well, if Paul Krugman is for it, you pretty much know it’s bad. The man is a complete idiot.

But this is bad news from NYT. Going to be hard to pass BBB with this kind of headwind.

Follow the White Rabbit

Top GOP Senator Barrasso Hit’s Biden’s ‘Alice In Wonderland Logic’: ‘He’s The Mad Hatter Out Here’ | The Daily Wire

“No, we have record inflation right now,” [Senator John Barrasso (R-WY)] said. “I view this as a back-breaking bill for the country with the kind of expenses, the spending, the adding to the debt, the inflation, the taxes that are going to hit the American people. And, you know, for Joe Biden to say we have to spend even more money on top of inflation, I mean, to me, this is ‘Alice in Wonderland’ logic. He’s the Mad Hatter out here.”

“He continues to try to mislead the American people, first saying the cost will be zero, zero, zero, when the budget analysts have said it’s going to be hundreds of billions of dollars added to the debt,” he continued. “People’s taxes are going to go up. They — he said, oh, no, only if you make over $400,000 a year. That’s not what the tax experts are telling us. They say one out of three middle class Americans will pay more in taxes. So, on all of these issues and inflation across the board, people saying, we’re looking at persistent inflation. We cannot ignore inflation. That is the thing that’s going to hurt our economy the most.”

The man has a point. One I’ve made repeatedly. Everything Team Biden is doing seems designed to make our situations worse, not better.

At this point, it’s hard to believe that’s an accident.

It Was Supposed to Be Before Thanksgiving, and Before That It Was Supposed Be Before the Virginia Elections

Sen. Klobuchar: Build Back Better bill to be finished before Christmas | One America News Network (oann.com)

The problem isn’t the timeline. It’s that they have an unpopular bill that they can’t get approved.

According to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Joe Biden’s spending bill will be completed before Christmas. During an interview on Sunday, she touted the administration’s spending agenda. Klobuchar said the plan would help create jobs in fields which are facing major labor shortages.

The Democrat also said the Biden’s spending agenda would be finished in the coming weeks, while noting Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) had been in constant communication with the party over the bill. When asked if she was confident the Build Back Better bill would be completed by Christmas, Klobuchar said she was.

“Sen. Manchin is still at the negotiating table, talking to us every day, talking to us about voting rights, getting that bill done, restoring the Senate,” stated the senator. “He’s talking to us about this bill.”

But if they can get Mancin and Sinema on board (a big “if”), they’re likely to lose the progressive wing. Threading the needle is going to be hard, and isn’t going to get any easier if the polls for the Democrats continue to have bad news.
