Do Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out

‘I Want To Try Something New’: Chris Wallace Is Leaving ‘Fox News Sunday,’ Effective Immediately | The Daily Wire

I lost all respect for Mr. Wallace after that “debate” he “moderated” between then candidate Joe Biden (D-USA) and President Donald Trump (R-USA). That was a complete fiasco. He was nearly totally unable to control the debate. and what little control he did exert was done to make Trump look bad. His questions were of the “Mr. President, have you stopped beating your wife” variety to Trump and of the “What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream” to Biden.

Good riddance.

You won’t be missed.

Brian Stelter Lives in a Bubble World

He’s not affected by the high price of gas, or of food. He probably doesn’t have any relatives in Afghanistan or in the armed forces. He doesn’t live near riot areas, or near places that are being looted.

Brian Stelter: The Reason Americans Think Biden Is Failing Is Because Fox News Told Them So | The Daily Wire

Fox didn’t tell me any of those things. Well, I might have heard about the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan there. The rest of it I can see with my own two eyes.

CNN anchor Brian Stelter seems entirely convinced that the media is at least partly to blame for President Joe Biden’s polling problems — and he even went so far as to suggest that Americans believe Biden is failing to deliver on his campaign promises because negative chyrons on Fox News told them so.

This is rich after his own network spent four years over-hyping every tiny thing in the Trump presidency and contributed its own made up stories to increase the hype.

“If Biden’s strategy is quiet, his detractors are trying to be loud, making the meta story about a guy who failed to deliver, and citing supply chain woes to make those tales sound real,” Stelter added, saying that it no longer mattered if gas prices came down, store shelves were fully stocked, and packages were delivered on time — because the people would believe the stories rather than their own experiences.

Did he just completely forget everything that happened in 2017 through 2020? Biden gets gift after gift from the media. His entire Presidency is a gift from the media. Don’t whine to me about Biden and the media. I’m not that dumb. Even if you are.

Never-Trumpers Quit Fox News – PJ Media

Good riddance.

“We started The Dispatch two years ago ‘to do right as we see it, by providing engaged citizens fact-based reporting and commentary on politics, policy and culture—informed by conservative principles,'” Hayes and Goldberg claim. “We made a promise to our readers and members that we’d challenge our own assumptions as we challenged theirs, and that we wouldn’t pull punches. The tension between doing that work well and remaining loyal to Fox has tested us many times over the past few years. But with the release of Patriot Purge, we felt we could no longer ‘do right as we see it’ and remain at Fox News. So we resigned.”

Liars.

Fox routinely allows opinions from all colors of the political spectrum. And there are people under the direct employ of Fox News (not contributors, but employees), who are farther left than you.

You’re just attention-seeking wimps.

Well, I have no use for that. Get lost and don’t come back.

Don’t Complain About the Public Not Trusting You When You Pull Crap Like This

USA Today snubs Winsome Sears, Jason Miyares from report on 'candidates of color' who won historic elections | Fox News

USA Today raised eyebrows for a report highlighting the "candidates of color" who made history in various election races on Tuesday but initially left out two of the night's biggest winners.

Virginia rocked the political world with Glenn Youngkin leading the Republican ticket to victory in the commonwealth that President Biden won by ten points last year. The two other big winners were Winsome Sears, who will become Virginia's first woman of color lieutenant governor, and Jason Miyares, who will be the state's first Hispanic attorney general.

However, neither of them was mentioned in USA Today's roundup of the diverse candidates that emerged victorious this week.

They did correct the issue after being called out by Fox News on it, but not until then.

We know why. Republican minorities don’t count in your eyes. You’re sick. Seek professional help.

Concerning Fox News

There has been much talk about Drudge turning away from the right and Trump in particular in the last year or so. FNC has been the subject of similar criticisms recently, particularly since Election Night 2020.

I’m curious to see what these two will do now that Trump is out of office.  I’m going to look at Fox in this post, and the next post will be about Drudge.

I don’t feel that FNC ever went full NeverTrump. Some of their personalities may have done so, and it’s clear that some on the board feel that way also. But, it’s also clear that many are still stalwart fans of Trump and defenders of conservatism (you can argue that the two are not the same, and you’re perhaps correct, but that’s a topic for another post).

However, they have clearly suffered and lost a significant part of their viewership. They’re coming in third in the ratings war behind CNN and MSNBC. In response, they have just as clearly made a concerted move to appeal to conservative viewers once more.

You can see that here: Fox News' Peter Doocy Pins Down Jen Psaki, She Doesn't Respond Well (redstate.com)

Matt Yglesias thinks so, too:

Ann Althouse points out that Matt is assuming that they’ve not asked Trump to appear. It is very possible that they have asked and Trump has declined.

Missing piece of info: How do you know the Fox hasn't tried to book him? Since Trump hasn't done any interviews since leaving office — correct me if I'm wrong — the most rational inference is that Trump is declining to do interviews.

I don’t know if that’s the most rational inference, but it is definitely a possibility.

I understand that Fox News did not want to get involved in the conspiracy theories involving election fraud. They still want to appear as an objective news organization, and not the TV version of Alex Jones’ Infowars. Honestly, I don’t blame them for that. But they could have threaded the needle better. They lost it before then, though. Their election night coverage gave the impression of being entirely left-leaning. And I don’t believe that the math supported the timeline of their calls.

It’s going to take time to recover from that and to woo back viewers. I think it’s doable. It remains to see if they really want to do so. From a purely business sense, they really screwed up and need to fix it. The reason they dominated in viewership for so long is that they offered something no one else did, and their objective news segments really were fairly objective. Marching to the left just makes them one of a crowd.
