People Who Are Afraid of ”Offending Muslims” Are the True Islamophobes

Canadian school cancels event with ISIS survivor Nadia Murad after complaints it would be "offensive to Muslims" (reclaimthenet.org)

I would be more sympathetic about things that are “offensive to Muslims” if anyone at all was worried about things that are “offensive to Christians”. And if Muslims weren’t responsible for most of the world’s terrorism. They’re chopping people’s heads off on TV and we’re not allowed to “offend” them?

That’s Islamophobia, pure and simple. You don’t want to offend them because you know that will inspire them to commit more terrorist acts.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has canceled an event featuring Nadia Murad, an ISIS survivor.

Murad was to attend a book club event where she would discuss her book “The Last Girl: My Story Of Captivity” with students from the TDSB. The book explains how she escaped ISIS, which captured and subjected her to sexual slavery at only 14 years of age.

Well, yes, I can understand how Muslims might be offended that someone escaped from them and avoided sexual slavery at their hands.

You don’t have the right to not be offended. But Murad does have the right to not be a slave to you.

I hate people who accuse me of being an Islamophobe when they’re far more of one than I could ever be.

FARC off ... The Terrorist List

Report: Biden Administration To Take Colombian Rebel Organization ‘FARC’ Off Terrorist List | The Daily Wire

That didn’t work out well the last time.

The Biden administration is set to drop the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a rebel group from Colombia, from a terrorist groups list, according to a report.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, “[t]he officials said the move could come no later than Nov. 30,” which would be during the five-year commemoration of the peace deal made between the former President Juan Manuel Santos and rebel members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

But these guys agreed to put down their weapons, so I’m sure it will all work out fine.

At Least Some Countries Still Recognize Terrorism When They See It

UK's ban on Hamas said to be significant blow to funding for terror group | The Times of Israel

This is great news.

The United Kingdom’s decision Friday to designate the entirety of Hamas as a terror organization and outlaw support for the group is a major blow for the Islamist group, which carries out significant fundraising there, Channel 13 reported.

The UK proscribed the terror group’s military wing — the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades — in 2001. But the Hamas political leadership remained technically in the clear until now.

But this…

The ban, which must be approved by Parliament, would make it illegal in Britain to be a member of Hamas or to express support for the group, with a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.

The government said it hoped the banning order would be approved by Parliament within the week and take effect November 26.

Is less so. Membership and expressing support are both freedom of speech issues. The UK has much tighter restrictions on free speech than we do here in the U.S., so this is not surprising, even if it is disappointing.

Way to Keep Your Eyes on the Ball, Joe

Group Biden Took Off Terror List Commits Terrorist Act – PJ Media

Isn’t great that America is back and the adults are back in charge? America is back, all right: all the way back to 1979, the last time we had a president so weak that enemies of the United States stormed one of our embassies and took hostages. On Thursday, the Yemeni media outlet Al-Masdar Online reported that Houthi jihadis in Yemen, which are backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, stormed our embassy in Sana’a, seizing “large quantities of equipment and materials.” Just days before that, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), they “kidnapped three Yemeni nationals affiliated with the U.S. Embassy.” Biden’s team promised America would be back, but didn’t say anything about Jimmy Carter coming around again as well.

Clearly these people aren’t terrorists. Glad we removed them from the watch list. Obviously, nothing to watch.

CNN–Stopped Clock. Twice A Day.

CNN: Afghanistan's Fall Is a Neville Chamberlain-esque Failure and It's Joe Biden's Fault – PJ Media

Anyone who has watched Joe Biden’s career could and should have seen this coming. For all his and his supporters’ claims that he is some foreign policy expert, Joe Biden has been expert at getting foreign policy questions wrong. He wanted to pay Iran cash right after 9-11, just because he wanted to. His own staff killed that notion. He’s still trying to pay Iran in cash, just as the Obama administration did while Biden was vice president. One could surmise that Joe Biden really wants to hand Iran, which backs terrorism against Israel and has declared itself an enemy of the United States since the 1979 revolution, large piles of American cash. One could also surmise that Biden is on course to exceed even Jimmy Carter’s disastrous Middle East foreign policy — a foreign policy that helped beget revolutionary Iran in the first place.

Honest question: has President Joe Biden (D-USA) ever been right about anything regarding American foreign policy? Anything? Anything at all? He’s been in politics since the days of Washington and Adams. Surely he was right once in all that time. i just can’t think of any.

Everything About This White House Is Scary

Kayleigh McEnany Says It's 'Scary' That Biden Can't Answer Basic Questions About Afghanistan (lifezette.com)

“They can not give us a count of the number of people who died at the airport in Kabul,” she added. “And they can’t give us the number of Americans stranded in Afghanistan, and they can’t give us the number of al Qaeda. It is far more than zero, they don’t have a number.”

The only thing more predictable than President Biden’s (D-USA) domestic ineptitude is is foreign ineptitude. God, it’s only been 8 months.

This is what you voted for. #IToldYouSo

Serious Question: Why Would You Vote For Obama?

I assume if you’re planning on voting for President Barack Obama (D-USA) in 2012, that you voted for him in 2008. Furthermore, I would hope that your vote in 2008 actually had something to do with what he campaigned on. So, let’s roll the tape, shall we?

Major campaign issues from 2008:

  • The Economy. Well, with now a record 37 months at 8% or higher unemployment, you’d be hard pressed to argue that he’s turned around the economy, despite a $787 billion stimulus package (hey, where’d that money go, btw?)
  • Close Gitmo. Last I checked, Gitmo is still open.
  • Get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan. No. And…no.
  • Maybe you’re a supporter of gay marriage. Well, how much progress has been made here by the Obama administration? Err…none. In point in fact, I do expect Obama to make a serious push on this front later this year, closer to November. But remember, from January 2009 to January 2011, Obama had both chambers of Congress in his pocket. He could’ve passed anything he wanted to pass related to gay marriage. In a snap. But he didn’t. Remember this post when something doesn’t pass this year and he blames it on the Republicans. If you don’t, I will. And I’ll remind you. Again.
  • High gas prices. Ooops.
  • The federal deficit and exploding debt. He was going to cut the deficit in half. Last Thursday, Obama passed President George W. Bush’s deficit total. It took him 38 months to pass Bush’s 96 months of out of control spending. Yes, the economy exacerbated that. But I’ve discussed this before. And, surely, if that matters to you, then you’re upset about the fact that our credit rating has been downgraded? And you’re upset about the Democrats failure to pass a budget? But wait, that’s not Obama’s fault, you say! Well, is he, or is he not the leader of the Democrat party? If he pressured Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-NV) to pass a budget, would one get passed? Bet the farm on it.
  • Improve race relations. Well, I think we can all agree that hasn’t happened. And isn’t going to as long as that racist thug runs the Department of Justice.
  • Tax cuts for 95 percent of working families. Never happened.
  • No new taxes for middle class. Well, sure, as long as you don’t count cigarettes, healthcare, or don’t own a small business.
  • Improve foreign relations, particularly with the Middle East. Based on this search, that doesn’t appear to have happened.
  • He did get ObamaCare passed, but let’s be honest with ourselves. This is not the law that even liberals wanted or were promised. It costs more, does less, and pretty much ensures that every single conservative criticism is going to come true.

Did I miss something? Did something really, you know, awesomely awesome occur in the last 3 years? Or are you just too stupid to realize that the man is a liar who hates America, wants to destroy it, and will say anything to get your vote?

Bend Over, Here He Comes Again

President Barack Obama (D-USA) officially kicks off his 2012 campaign today. You can watch the video here. It’s rare for a sitting President to start campaigning so soon, but let’s face it, campaigning is the one and only thing he’s good at.

And he’s not even that good at that.

So, this blog is officially kicking off our campaign to add him to the unemployment lines.

So, let’s look at a couple of highlights from his first two years in office, shall we?

Well, there’s this from Moe Lane:

And this:

And more on unemployment from the 405 club, showing what the unemployment numbers look like assuming static levels in workforce participation.

But let’s move on from unemployment and general human misery. How about American public debt? The Heritage Foundation has us covered here.

But at least he ended all those wars that President George W. Bush started, right?

According to this site, the Obama death toll stands at 1,118.

Hey, but he promised to bring down gas prices. Let’s check GasBuddy.com.

2 yr gas prices

And then there’s one of my personal favorites, the corporate tax rate from Cato@Liberty:

But he did lower our health care costs, right? Again, the Heritage Foundation sets us straight.

Really, with numbers like these, I can understand why he would want to start campaigning before his opponents.

And if you think these numbers are bad, imagine what he could do to America in a second term, when he doesn’t have to worry about trying to get re-elected.

Bend over, here he comes again, America.

Top 10 Labels at Chris of Rights

We don’t believe in ‘No Labels’ here.

As we enter a new year, it’s fitting to take a moment to look back at where we’ve been.

  1. Election 2008 – 113 posts
  2. Barack Obama – 92 posts
  3. Democratic Party – 75 posts
  4. Election 2010 – 62 posts
  5. 9/11 Remembered – 54 posts
  6. POTUS – 46 posts
  7. Republican Party – 38 posts
  8. John McCain – 35 posts
  9. Obama-McCain and Civil Liberties – 34 posts
  10. War on Terror – 32 posts

Probably POTUS should be higher. I should check and make sure I’ve used that label where appropriate.

Anyway, I’m often accused of being a cheerleader for Sarah Palin. She didn’t even make the top 10.

That’s overall, of course. The list for 2010 only is somewhat different.

  1. Election 2010 – 56 posts
  2. 9/11 Remembered – 36 posts
  3. Democratic Party – 33 posts
  4. Barack Obama – 26 posts
  5. Tea Parties – 23 posts
  6. Economy – 15 posts
  7. Republican Party – 15 posts
  8. POTUS – 14 posts
  9. General – 12 posts
  10. Congress – 10 posts
  11. Election 2012 – 10 posts

Palin didn’t make the top 10 for 2010 either.

My predictions for the big topics for 2011? 9/11 Remembered, Barack Obama, Election 2012, Republican Party, and Economy. I’ll probably make  new label, something like ‘2012 Republican Primary’, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the top 5.

Stay tuned.

October 23, 1983

I posted this two years ago, and it’s as relevant now as it was then.

25 years ago today, October 23, 1983, modern suicide bombing was invented. The U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon was attacked by a suicide bomber, killing 241 Americans, including 220 Marines, 18 from the Navy, and 3 from the Army. Two minutes later, there was a similar (obviously coordinated) bombing at the French 1st Parachute Infantry Regiment barracks, killing 58 French paratroopers.

Hey, and President Barack Obama (D-USA) would be proud. I mentioned Slurpees.

Terrorism matters. Iran matters. Think about what happened 25 years ago today and what happened on September 11, 2001 when you're drinking your Slurpee and watching W. Think about them on November 4 when you're in that voting booth and think about which candidate wants to fight against Islamic terrorism and which one wants to "hope for change". Hope is a good thing, but hoping that Iran is going to change until and unless forced to do so, is insane.

I’m through hoping for change.

Will The Real Islamophobes Please Stand Up?

One of the many hysterical attacks on the right from the left is accusing us of Islamophobia.

Stop me if you’ve heard me say this before.

There’s a word for this. It’s called “projection”.

Let’s go to the tape, shall we?

Was it the left or the right that fired Juan Williams for admitting that seeing Muslims on airplanes makes him nervous? The left. And this certainly wasn’t because what he said was “over the line”. Remember this is the person that once called Sarah Palin a “centerfold for Republican men”.  No, it was because he dared say something bad about Muslims. You’re not allowed to that if you work for the Islamophobic left.

Was it the left of the right that would not allow the publishing of the Danish cartoons which caricatured the Prophet Mohammed? The left.

Was it the left or the right that would again cringe at the idea of publishing the cartons in a book about the cartoons? The left.

John Donatich, the director of Yale University Press, said the press has a long history of defending free expression, but the risk of violence in this case, outweighed the benefit of including the images, which can easily be found on the Internet.

Was it the left or the right that decided that the word terrorism should be replaced with “man-caused disasters”? The left.

Was it the left or the right that continuously defers from associating “man-caused disasters” with Muslims? The left.

Was it the left or the right that decided to prosecute Geert Wilders merely for having the temerity to speak out against radical Islam? The left.

Was it the left or the right that wouldn’t print a “Where’s Mohammed” cartoon that didn’t even include the image of Mohammed? The left.

Was it the left or the right that censored the television series South Park from showing an image of Mohammed or even talking about him? The left.

The left, particularly the MSM in the left, has made it plain that they will not tolerate anything that might offend practictioners of the peaceful religion of Islam, and if you dare attempt it, they will hang you out to dry.

Now, I ask again, who are the real Islamophobes?

Molly Norris & Freedom Of Speech

Regular followers of this blog know that the First Amendment is a big deal to me. There was a huge First Amendment story in the United States earlier this year, and I didn’t comment on it at the time. I’m rectifying that now.

This story is about a woman named Molly Norris. I assume you’ve heard of her, but if you get all your news from NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN and the New York Times, then you haven’t. Sadly, she doesn’t even have a page in Wikipedia. On the other hand, maybe that’s appropriate.

Molly Norris is a political cartoonist. You know, one of those folks that draws George W. Bush and makes him look like Alfred E. Neuman, or makes Barack Obama’s ears look like Dumbo’s. Anyway, earlier this year, she drew what she thought would be a humorous political cartoon. It was called “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”.

This was a response to what many people claimed was censorship of a South Park episode depicting Mohammed. As you know, the Muslim faith forbids creation of any likeness of the Prophet. The South Park episode was altered after completion to have Mohammed’s face blurred and several sections were “bleeped” out.

So, Molly was trying to a) have some fun, b) respond satirically to this perceived censorship, and c) poke some fun at Muslims. This type of thing is expected behavior for a political satirist.

According to her, the entire point of the cartoon was satire. She says that she never really meant for May 20, 2010 to be “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”. It was a joke. She points out that in the cartoon all the images claim to be the likeness of Mohammed, but they’re quite clearly not. She found herself and the cartoon to be at the center of a media and grass roots political firestorm. She even tried to stop the movement and stop the event from occurring.

Then, of course, came the death threats. This is what happens when you mock the peaceful religion of Islam. As others have discovered previously.

On July 11, 2010 it was reported that Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki had put Molly Norris on a hitlist. In an English-language Al Qaeda magazine named "Inspire," Al-Awlaki wrote "The medicine prescribed by the Messenger of Allah is the execution of those involved." and was quoted as saying "The large number of participants makes it easier for us because there are more targets to choose from in addition to the difficulty of the government offering all of them special protection [...] But even then our campaign should not be limited to only those who are active participants." FBI officials have reportedly notified Norris warning her they consider it a "very serious threat."

Okay, so that was back in May. What has Molly been up to since?

No one knows. You see, there is no more Molly.

The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, "going ghost": moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity. She will no longer be publishing cartoons in our paper or in City Arts magazine, where she has been a regular contributor. She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab. It's all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" cartoon.

This woman has been sent into hiding by our federal government, and the feds aren’t even picking up the tab. If you use your favorite search engine and look up “obama ‘molly norris’” you’ll find that President Barack Obama (D-USA) has had nothing to say on the issue.

He has time to criticize Republicans for “sipping Slurpees” and time to attack the Chamber of Commerce but no time to defend Molly Norris or to defend her free speech.

This is appalling and disgusting. In fact, it may be the most reprehensible thing yet from this administration. And you have to leap pretty high to clear that bar.

If Molly Norris’ right to free speech has been lost, then we have all lost it. If our President won’t stand up against radical Islam to protect an innocent U.S. citizen, then the war on terror is lost. Every time we acquiesce to the demands of radical Islam it emboldens them. Every time we cower in fear over their potential response to an action, we lose.

Mr. President, you have failed your country. You have failed the entire world.

I hope the GOP makes the next two years of your life a living Hell.

14 days. I can see November from my house.

Intemperate Thought of the Day

Since becoming President, Barack Obama (D-USA) has met once with the commander of the U.S. led forces in Afghanistan. Actually, it’s worse than that. He’s met with him once in his entire life.

Since becoming President, Barack Obama has been on the late night talkers twice. Once on Letterman, just last week, and once on Leno back in March.

Nice to know where our President’s priorities are.

It’s 12:16 PM September 11, 2001 – Where Are You?

12:16 PM

US airspace is clear of aircraft except for military and emergency flights. Only a few transoceanic flights are still landing in Canada.

Where were you?

2,996 souls were lost on that day, including 343 of New York's Bravest and New York's Finest who gave their lives trying to save others.

Oh, where was I during all of this? In a meeting. No one bothered to interrupt the meeting to mention what was happening. After the meeting, I walked out to my car, somehow managing not to talk to a single person. I got in the car and drove home for lunch, without turning on the radio. I got home, made myself a sandwich, sat down at about 12:05 PM, turned on the TV and discovered that the world had changed while I wasn't looking. Rudy Giuliani has said it best, many times (paraphrasing). "We learned on September 11, 2001 that we were at war. The other side had known they were at war for quite some time, but we didn't know it."

There's a very poignant picture on the NY Times website from 9/11/2006, with the caption "The Hole in the City's Heart"

Where were you?

On September 12, we all promised ourselves that we'd never forget the events of that day. Have you kept that promise?

The times and events listed here are a very small excerpt of what's available at the Cooperative Research History Commons. The whole thing is well worth a read, if you have the time (it's very long).

Where were you?

There's an excellent Flash video tribute here. Please be patient. It's rather large and the server appears to be somewhat underpowered. It'll take a while to load. But it's well worth the wait.

Two groups of passengers (one containing Tom Burnett who has been on the phone with his wife, and one containing Todd Beamer who has been on the phone with a Verizon representative) apparently working independently attempt to to regain control of United Airlines Flight 93. Todd Beamer leaves his phone connected and at about this time is heard to say "Let's Roll."
