Have you figured out by now that I’m almost always on the side of free speech. I am as close to an absolutist on this issue as anyone you are likely to ever meet.

The British government is currently debating an “Online Safety Bill” that would make it a crime punishable by two years in jail to cause someone “psychological harm” as a result of online “trolling.”

According to The Times, the government will shift the focus from the content of an online message to its effect, creating the crimes of “threatening communications,” “knowingly false communication,” and “pile-ons.”

The new language and crimes will be added to the bill before it’s introduced next month.

According to The Times, “Trolls could face two years in prison for sending messages or posting content that causes psychological harm under legislation targeting online hate.”

Ugh. What kind of candy-a** people are we planning raising in the 21st century?

Snowflakes. Nothing but weak pathetic snowflakes.

DOJ will likely ignore this request until and unless it becomes a demand.

In his testimony before the Judiciary Committee on October 21, AG Garland was uncertain whether the meetings had taken place, therefore, to “assist in the Committee’s investigation and determine whether these meetings are ongoing,” the Committee requested that each U.S. Attorney provide the following documents and information:

1. All documents and communications referring or relating to convening meeting(s) in your judicial district in accordance with the Attorney General’s October 4, 2021memorandum;
2. All agendas, minutes, and notes created or relied upon by U.S. Attorney’s Office employees referring or relating to meeting(s) in your judicial district in accordance with the Attorney General’s October 4, 2021 memorandum;
3. Please explain when meeting(s) in your judicial district in accordance with the Attorney General’s October 4, 2021 memorandum have occurred or will occur;
4. Please identify by name and title of all U.S. Attorney’s Office employees involved in the meeting(s) in your judicial district in accordance with the Attorney General’s October 4, 2021 memorandum ;
5. Please identify all federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial organizations invited to or that have attended the meetings convened in your judicial district in accordance with the October 4, 2021 memorandum; and
6. Please provide all recommendations, both formal and informal, and any meeting minutes produced at the meeting(s) in your judicial district in accordance with the Attorney General’s October 4, 2021 memorandum.

The Committee closes its request by reiterating that concerned parents “are not domestic terrorists” and “have an undisputed right to direct the upbringing and education of their children.” Parents who cross legal lines through violence or criminal threat should be taken care of by local authorities, but “we must not tolerate the use of the federal law enforcement apparatus to intimidate and silence parents using their Constitutional rights to advocate for their child’s future.”

The U.S. Attorneys have until no later than 5:00 p.m. on November 15 to respond.

We’ll see.

Color me skeptical. The GOP wasn’t very successful with these even when they were in the majority.

American Airlines Flight Staffs Follow Example Set by Southwest

This isn’t surprising. The commercial airline community is extremely tight.

The nature of the debacle — starting with bad weather in part of the country before spinning out of control — was similar to disruptions at Southwest Airlines  in early October. Together, the twin failures raised ominous questions about whether major airlines are prepared for the busy upcoming holiday travel period.

While the U.S. president often starts with the wire services first, past presidents have never announced that they were “told” to call on the AP first.

After the Q&A, Biden said, “Next question was from Jeff Mason — for Jeff Mason of Reuters.”

Biden then went to reporters from The New York Times, The Washington Post, and ABC News before running out the clock with a lengthy, rambling answer to the last question. The press conference ran just 26 minutes — pressers with former President Donald Trump would often run up to 90 minutes and more.

Clown show, I mean.

Kristallnacht.

A rare double “On This Day” post for me. Just as I remember the Wall Coming Down so well, I should also remind you of the other major event on this day in the 20th century.

This one is perhaps more relevant today as anti-Semitism is quite on the rise again.

Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, was a nationwide anti-Jewish pogrom in Nazi Germany beginning on the evening of November 9, 1938, and continuing through the next day. Actually, it was much more than just a pogrom. Kristallnacht was the day Hitler’s final solution came out of the closet with anti-Jewish riots in Germany, Austria, and the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia. It was the night the Holocaust began.

The Holocaust is unique in its volume and horrors and is a singular event in world history. Yes, there are genocides of other people and other horrors. There were even other atrocities committed against the Jewish people.   But generally, a genocide is waged to suppress a group, take their territory, or for political reasons, or some economic reason like taking their wealth or enslaving a people. This was different– the Jews targeted by Hitler and the Nazis had no land and held relatively little power.  Beginning with Kristallnacht, the Nazis engaged in a genocide of Jews. Its only purpose was to wipe them off the face of the Earth.

The Wall comes tumbling down!

The Berlin Wall falls on this day. I remember it every year without having to look it up, because this day is also my birthday. Although I was born quite a bit before 1989.

Oddly, I don’t think I’ve ever posted on my birthday before in the history of this blog.

These people are openly anti-American. They make no bones about it. They hate our country and are trying to destroy it, and their control over K-12 education, which is unchallenged in many places, makes that a reasonable ambition. While national attention is understandably focused on Virginia’s election for governor, the country’s school board elections will be more important in the long run.

Wherever you live, seats on your school board are probably being contested. The Golden Rule is, never vote for anyone who is endorsed by your state’s teachers’ union. If you inquire, you can easily find out whether there are pro-America candidates running for your local school board. If there are, you should vote for them. Turnout in school board elections is notoriously low, often in single digits, which is why far-left teachers’ unions have generally been able to select the school boards “against” whom they negotiate contracts.

This year, pro-America candidates have emerged in most states. Some will win, but most, in all likelihood, will fail to overcome the Left’s immense financial resources. But next year may be a different story: this year some tremors, in 2022, the earthquake. With another year, not just to spread awareness of the evils of CRT and the anti-American bias that has largely taken over our public schools, but also to organize, identify candidates, raise a modest amount of money and rally behind them, we may see a revolution.

Jen Psaki Tests Positive for COVID – PJ Media

“On Wednesday, in coordination with senior leadership at the White House and the medical team, I made the decision not to travel on the foreign trip with the president due to a family emergency, which was members of my household testing positive for COVID-19,” Psaki said in a statement. “Since then, I have quarantined and tested negative [via PCR] for COVID on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. However, today, I tested positive for COVID. While I have not had close contact in person with the president or senior members of the White House staff since Wednesday — and tested negative for four days after that last contact — I am disclosing today’s positive test out of an abundance of transparency.

It sounds like she likely did not infect the President, which is good. Hopefully, the spread from her will be limited, if not zero.

Sounds like she is also recovering well, which is again, good.

DeSantis Slams Biden. This Is Becoming an Everyday Occurrence.

But then again, it’s not like Biden doesn’t offer plenty of opportunities.

I’ve seen a lot that’s happened over the last nine or 10 months that I didn’t think I’d ever see, but this takes the cake,” DeSantis said. “If that is done, that is going to be a slap in the face to every hard working American who works hard and plays by the rules and it will especially being a slap in the face to people that have immigrated legally to this country. That should not be allowed to stand. It’s wrong. And whatever we can do in Florida to fight back against it, we will do.”

I don’t know that there’s much that Florida can do, but Governor DeSantis (R-FL) has been pretty innovative so far. He may surprise me.
