It Figures

Jim Clyburn Says Democrats Will ‘Get Around’ Filibuster To Pass Progressive Voting Expansion | The Daily Wire

There’s nothing less democratic than the Democrats’ proposals to overhaul voting in America, so it makes sense they’d work to “get around” other traditional democratic principles to pass it.

For the record, again, I am not opposed to filibuster reform. And I think it will eventually disappear. It’s really just a matter of which party eventually does it. My money is on the Democrats, but I really wouldn’t be surprised either way. I know that whenever it happens, the opposition party and media will hyperventilate about it for weeks.

However, “getting around” things bothers me.

Clyburn made the comments to “Axios on HBO,” telling the program that passing the Democrats’ desired legislation “may require some jiu-jitsu, but that’s not beyond the Senate to do that.”

“They’ll come up with some way to get around it,” Clyburn added. “We had better come up with some way to get around it, because this democracy is teetering on collapse.”

He doesn’t get the irony of his statement. Democracy is teetering on collapse, and yet we have to “get around” the rules in the Senate to “fix” it.

Nothing to See Here, Move Along

Attempted breach of Ohio county election network draws FBI and state scrutiny – HotAir

Federal and state investigators are examining an attempt to breach an Ohio county’s election network that bears striking similarities to an incident in Colorado earlier this year, when government officials helped an outsider gain access to the county voting system in an effort to find fraud.

Data obtained in both instances were distributed at an August “cyber symposium” on election fraud hosted by MyPillow executive Mike Lindell, an ally of former president Donald Trump who has spent millions of dollars promoting false claims that the 2020 election was rigged.

I’m sure they were just doing it for fun. There was no intent to cause any election fraud here. And the fact that the same thing has occurred in both Ohio and Colorado is not at all worrisome. No need to suspect that this might be part of an organized effort to take down multiple states.

Everything will be fine. Don’t worry.

Voter Fraud? I Don’t Think It Exists.

No voter fraud? How about 1,334 cases, 1,147 convictions | Washington Examiner

Hans von Spakovsky and John Fund have teamed to write an emotionless history of voter fraud, filled with recent examples, especially in the 2020 election, and based on the Heritage Foundation’s election fraud database.

In Our Broken Elections: How the Left Changed the Way You Vote , the duo with three decades of voting study between them highlighted the 1,334 cases of fraud and 1,147 criminal convictions Heritage has collected dating to the 1982 conviction of 63 involved in a scheme to stuff 100,000 extra ballots in an Illinois gubernatorial primary.

Fast-forward to 2020: They detailed the allegations of how Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg spent millions on election tricks in mostly Democratic areas to help Biden and how his money is to be used in 2022 to skew elections.

In between, they pointed to politicians, including Biden, who used to decry the types of election “reforms” Democrats and the media are now championing, such as eliminating voter identification.

The left is much like Westley in The Princess Bride.

DeSantis Has Decided That When You’re Winning, You Start Attacking Even Harder

The Right may end up forcing him to run for President.

Gov. DeSantis unveils new agency to probe election fraud | One America News Network (oann.com)

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced new measures to protect election integrity and defend constitutional freedoms in his state at an event in West Palm Beach.

In a news conference on Wednesday, the governor said he has established a new law enforcement agency to investigate all reports and evidence of election fraud. DeSantis said the new agency will look into illegal ballot harvesting, ballot dumping and other types of election crimes.

He also stressed Florida has increased criminal penalties for tampering with elections.

“If you see somebody brings a stack of ballots and they’re stuffing them in a drop box, you have a place that will field these complaints and will immediately be able to investigate and hold them accountable,” said DeSantis. A news release said the Office of Election Crimes and Security would be formed “within the Department of State to investigate election crimes and fraud.”

And he still is hammering on vaccine mandates.

Reliable Sources Maintain That Voter Fraud Is a Myth

Three Detroit-Area Women Busted for Voter Fraud--How Many More Are There? – PJ Media

Nursing home employee Trenae Myesha Rainey was busted for forging the names of roughly 24 patients on absentee ballot applications. She is only charged with three counts of forging a signature on absentee ballot applications and three counts of election law forgery.

Nancy J. Williams, 55, owns a company that handles legal guardianships. She was busted in October of 2020 for trying to obtain absentee ballots for at least 14 and up to 26 people who are deemed legally incapacitated. Michigan election officials found absentee ballot requests marked with an “X,” all of which were requested to be sent to Williams’ company, Guardian and Associates.

Williams’ lawyer, Andrea Bradley, claims Williams did nothing outside the scope of legal guardianship, though she is charged with 42 counts of election-fraud-related crimes in five district courts.

The only fraudster to cast a vote, according to Nessel, was Carless Clark, who was busted for impersonating her grandson. He voted in person but she sent in a ballot in his name.

True, these are small numbers. These wouldn’t swing an election. But how many more of these people are out there? What assurances do we have that these are the only ones? I suspect this is a tip of the iceberg scenario. 80% are invisible.

But I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about.

Reliable Sources Say This Never Happens

Former South Philly Judge of Elections Charged in Massive 4-Year Voter Fraud Scheme (ijr.com)

How many times have we been told that there is no voter fraud?

According to Philadelphia magazine, Marie Beren, 67, faces federal charges for participating in a voter fraud scheme from 2015-2019. The outlet said Beren faces four charges related to voter fraud, one of which is conspiracy.

At the time of the charges, Beren was serving as a staffer for Philadelphia City Councilmember Mark Squilla. However, she has previously served in plenty of other political roles in the city.

Prosecutors said Beren and an unidentified “consultant” were involved in the voter fraud conspiracy. The complaint alleges the consultant “exercised influence and control in Philadelphia’s 39th Ward by distributing cash payments and supporting family, friends and allies for elective office in the 39th Ward, and installing Ward Leaders, Judges of Elections, and Democratic State Committee.”

I’m sure it’s all an innocent misunderstanding.

And There’s a Reason Why Articles Like This Are on ”CyberScoop” and Not The New York Times

A former top US election official urges sweeping security improvements, warning 'democracy is in trouble' – CyberScoop

And not because it’s a lunatic conspiracy theory. It’s because the NYT wants to bury any talk of even potential election fraud. The only thing they want to talk about related to elections and voting is Republican “voter suppression” efforts. Yes, Republicans to want to suppress votes. They don’t want dead people to vote. They don’t want people from out of state to vote. They don’t want people to vote in multiple districts. And they don’t want people to vote twice in the same district. And they don’t want computers tinkering with the results, creating votes out of nothing or changing ballots.

To the Democrats, this is ‘voter suppression”. To Republicans this is “election integrity”.

You choose which side you want to be on. Only one side is for freedom and fair elections, though.

Terrified Virginia Democrats Seek to Change Election Laws After Voting Has Already Started – RedState

Sure enough, the Democrat-dominated Fairfax Board of Supervisors has asked Gov. Ralph Northam to waive the witness signature requirement that Virginia law stipulates for all absentee ballots. Board Chairman Jeffrey McKay insists that the waiver is necessary due to the threat of COVID-19, yet cases are declining.

We must make it easier to cheat. But don’t worry, there’s never any fraud.

The only Republican member of the board dissented, refusing to sign the letter asking Northam for the waiver. He cited the obvious points for his rejection, which are that 1) voting has already started and 2) that the signature requirement was passed into law for a reason, namely to ensure election integrity.

Kind of hard to argue with that.

Earlier posts of mine on this race said that Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) is the incumbent Governor. He is not. He is a former governor there.

If Chain of Custody Is Broken, the Ballot Cannot Be Counted. Period.

Roughly 43,000 absentee ballot counted in DeKalb County in 2020 violated chain of custody rule | Just The News

Look, I’m not going to try to convince you that Donald Trump (R-USA) won the election in 2020. I think there are a number of states where the official results are, shall we say, suspect.  But this kind of thing cannot happen, if we want to have faith in our elections.

More than 70% of the 61,731 absentee ballots put in drop boxes in the November 2020 presidential election in DeKalb County, Georgia, were counted and certified by officials, despite violating chain of custody requirements.

I truly doubt my dream will ever come to fruition, but I’m not going to stop harping on it. If the chain of custody is broken for a ballot, then that ballot cannot be counted. No matter what. I don’t care if that invalidates 90% of the ballots for a state. We must protect our system from voter fraud. And making this an inviolate rule will help immensely in getting to that goal. Have a judge strike down a whole swath of ballots, just once, and suddenly people will get serious about following the rules.

And then we can all believe the certified election results. Not just whatever side won.

One Down, Forty-Nine to Go

‘Election Integrity Is Now Law In Texas’: Abbott Signs Bill That Triggered Dem Flight To DC | The Daily Wire

The bill takes several measures to ensure integrity in casting ballots, instituting a ban on drive-through and round-the-clock voting, and adding an ID requirement for mail-in and absentee ballots.

“Those who do want to vote-by-mail must now provide their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number when they’re applying for a mail-in ballot and when they send it back in,” the Daily Mail explained. The same measure also mandates that polling locations in areas with more than 55,000 residents offer at least 12 hours of early voting.

Personally, I would say that this doesn’t go far enough, but it’s a good start.

In a signing ceremony held Tuesday, Abbott said the bill makes “it easier than ever before for anybody to go cast a ballot. It does also, however, make sure it is harder than ever for people to cheat at the ballot box.”

“Election integrity is now law in Texas,” Abbott said before signing.

Like I said, it’s a start. Clearly better than where we were in 2020. We need many, many more laws like this.

Trump Proven Right—Again. but You’re Probably Not Allowed to Talk About It on Twitter or Facebook

Trump Vindicated as Judge Rules Michigan Secretary of State Violated Election Laws – PJ Media

A judge in Michigan has vindicated President Trump by ruling that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, broke state law when she unilaterally changed election rules concerning absentee balloting in the 2020 election. This ruling legitimizes a key claim made by the Trump legal team in its challenges to the 2020 election.

A major change imposed by Benson was loosening the signature verification requirement for absentee ballots. Michigan Court of Claims Chief Judge Christopher Murray ruled that this change violated Michigan Administrative Procedures Act.

So, what’s the end result of this? There were 3.1 million votes cast by absentee ballot in 2020. A significant number of them were probably invalid. I won’t say fraudulent. We can speculate that the loosened restrictions allowed for more fraud potential and therefore it’s more likely that fraud occurred. But we don’t really have any hard evidence on how much fraud there was. Nor are we likely to find any, because it’s just very hard to prove after the fact.

But we can say “invalid”. The loosened restrictions allowed many ballots to be counted that normally would not be. Biden led widely in absentee ballots, so any significant reduction in the legal count of absentees likely would have turned the state election to Trump.

In fact, I think it’s fair to say that based upon this ruling, that without the loosened restrictions, Trump would have almost certainly won the state. I am not saying the election will be overturned, or even that it should be. I don’t believe either of those are the case at this point. This is one of the many problems with voter fraud. If you can ever prove it, it takes so long to do, that it’s almost certainly too late by then.

I’m really curious, though. Twitter and Facebook have blocked almost any discussion regarding voting issues in the 2020 election. I assume that they still are doing so, and now you’ll not be allowed to talk about a legal win for Trump in court.

It’s Satire, But Not Really

Democrats Warn That If HR 1 Isn’t Passed, Republicans Could Win Some Elections | The Babylon Bee

That is in fact the point of HR 1, to ensure a Democrat majority for as long as possible.

I won’t quote the article, because someone will decide that I think it’s true and not satirical, but you really should go read it.

Joe, You’re The One Who Needs To “Smarten Up”

Biden tells Georgia to ‘smarten up’ to avoid losing business over new election law | Fox News

"There's another side to it too. When they in fact move out of Georgia, people who need help most, people who are making hourly wages, sometimes get hurt the most," Biden said.

He said he supports however businesses decide to protest the law. "I think it's a very tough decision for a corporation to make or group to make, I respect them when they make that judgment, I support whatever judgment they make.  The best way to deal with this is for Georgia and other states to smarten up. Stop it, stop it," he said.

Actually, the best way to deal with it would be to stop lying about it, Joe.

As I documented here and here.

Well, I Hope It’s In Support, But Somehow I Doubt It

BREAKING: American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Dell Technologies, AT&T Release Statements Targeting Election Reform Efforts in Texas – Breaking911

Well, let’s check.

Four major corporations have spoken out against recent Texas election reform bills.

One of the pieces of legislation, Senate Bill 7, would limit extended early voting hours, ban drive-thru voting and prohibit local election officials from automatically sending mail-in-voting applications to voters, according to The Texas Tribune.

Senate Bill 7 also gives more power to poll watchers and requires a doctor’s note for Texans with disabilities who are requesting to vote by mail, as reported by The Associated Press.

*sigh*

Unlike the Georgia law, there are pieces of the Texas one that I understand how they could be controversial, but overall it’s a huge step in the right direction.

American Airlines doesn’t think so:

“Any legislation dealing with how elections are conducted must ensure ballot integrity and security while making it easier to vote, not harder. At American, we believe we should break down barriers to diversity, equity and inclusion in our society – not create them,” the statement added.

Hmm. Well, they claim to support ballot integrity. If true, then they need to say what’s right with the legislation and what’s wrong with it. Not just condemn it completely.

The Texas Tribune reports that House Bill 6 would “prohibit local election officials from proactively sending out applications for mail-in ballots and impose new rules for people assisting voters to fill out their ballots.”

I think they are saying that as if it’s a criticism. Seems like a benefit to me.

FYI:

DELTA–GTFO

Delta CEO: Georgia Voting Law 'Unacceptable' (breitbart.com)

If you think that ensuring election integrity is “unacceptable”, then you should not be doing business in America. Time to close up shop here and head to China. We don’t want you here anymore.

[Delta CEO ED Bastian] maintained that “the final bill is unacceptable and does not match Delta’s values.”

Then your values are not my values. I value freedom and personal liberty. What do you value?

Get lost.

Governor Kemp hits back. Good for him.

Georgia governor hits back after Delta CEO criticizes state election law as 'unacceptable' | Just The News

"Throughout the legislative process, we spoke directly with Delta representatives numerous times. We worked alongside legislative leadership to expand voting opportunities for Georgians, while also taking steps to further secure the ballot box,” Kemp said in a statement.

“At no point did Delta share any opposition to expanding early voting, strengthening voter ID measures, increasing the use of secure drop boxes statewide, and making it easier for local election officials to administer elections — which is exactly what this bill does. The last time I flew Delta, I had to present my photo ID,” he added.

"Today's statement by Delta CEO Ed Bastian stands in stark contrast to our conversations with the company, ignores the content of the new law, and unfortunately continues to spread the same false attacks being repeated by partisan activists.”

Good response.

Mine is better.

Get lost.

This is Stupid and Un-American. We Cannot Allow Political Extortion Like this to Continue

Biden endorses moving MLB All-Star Game out of Georgia – POLITICO

President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he would "strongly support" moving the Major League Baseball All-Star Game out of Atlanta in response to Georgia's newly passed voting law that critics say restricts voting access.

"I think today's professional athletes are acting incredibly responsibly," Biden told ESPN's Sage Steele in an interview. "I would strongly support them doing that. People look to them. They're leaders."

Biden's comments joined a growing chorus of voices that have called on the MLB to move its marquee summertime game out of Cobb County, as part of a larger effort to boycott organizations headquartered in the state that have remained silent on the voting rights issue, as well as major sporting events, including golf's annual Masters Tournament.

This is extortion. This is using economic power to alter laws you don’t agree with. We have a number of just ways to alter laws in America. If MLB wants to lobby their beliefs to the state legislature and the residents of Georgia, they can do so. If they want to take the state of Georgia to court, they can do so.

What they cannot be allowed to do is to blackmail Georgia into changing their laws.

The fact that such as thing is supported by the President of the United States is despicable. His term can’t end soon enough.

Talk Like This is Insane–And isn’t Helping

Mike Lindell says Donald Trump could be back in office in August | One America News Network (oann.com)

It’s hard to prove to the center and to the left that you’re not crazy when there are statements like this.

According to Mike Lindell, President Trump could be back in office by August. The MyPillow CEO made the comment during a weekend video appearance on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast.

Lindell said all the evidence he’s compiled showing fraud in the 2020 presidential election will be shown to the Supreme Court. He expects that evidence will be enough to overturn the results of the election.

The Supreme Court is not overturning the election. There is zero percent chance of that happening. Accept that. Understand it. Move on.

I don’t know what they will decide. They may decide that many of the states violated voters Constitutional rights. They won’t see evidence of fraud, but they might see evidence that fraud was possible.

But I can guarantee you that once SCOTUS is done, Joe Biden (D-USA) will still be President.

You Could Have Ended the Headline After the Third Word

Biden Calls Georgia Election Law 'Jim Crow,' 'Un-American' – PJ Media

Only a Democrat would call “ensuring election integrity” “un-American”. Because it is the antithesis of their idea of America.

I’m not even going to quote from the article. Biden is an idiot. And a disgrace.

It shows just how far America has fallen that he is our President.

1 Down–50 (Counting D.C.) to Go

Brian Kemp Signs Georgia Election Integrity Law – PJ Media
If anything this bill doesn’t go far enough, but it at least attempts to address the disaster that occurred last November.

And  no, I’m no conspiracy theorist. I’m not even saying that the election was unfair. I am simply saying that there’s no way that we can confirm that it was. I said almost a year ago that whoever lost the election of 2020 would have substantial reason to doubt the election integrity. And I was correct.

Democrats don’t want to see more election integrity laws passed. Why is that?

Anyway, let’s see what Lennox has to say.

The bill also enhances election security by requiring identification when voters request an absentee ballot instead of relying on subjective signature matching. Voters will use a valid state ID, ID number, or other form of identification when requesting an absentee ballot. When voting in person, Georgians provide a photo ID, and there is simply no reason that absentee requests should not carry the same requirement.

Good. I’d still prefer no absentee ballots or mail-in ballots of any kind, but this is a step in the correct direction.

The law also expands early voting for the general and primary elections as a compromise, adding additional Saturdays and Sundays to the days to vote before Election Day. This provision is not a Republican preference because early tabulating of absentee ballots is also allowed. Drop boxes, a huge election security risk, may only be placed in early-voting locations and may only be accessible when the site is open.

That’s a mixed bag. I’m somewhat in favor of limited early voting, and I don’t mind it on weekends. I don’t like long term early voting periods. Actually, I would prefer a universal voting period nationwide. Everyone starts at 6 AM on election day EST, and continues for exactly 72 hours. And the lights are off at the 72 hour mark. None of this “anyone in line gets to vote”. You didn’t make it in 72 hours, too bad for you.

The state legislature has also severely limited the modifications that can be made by the Secretary of State and county election boards independently to address a crisis like COVID-19. The legislature has reserved the right to suspend such changes and require that any modifications must involve public notice and specific notification to the legislature. The law will also prevent county election offices from receiving “Zuck Bucks” from outside interest groups.

This is a solid set of wins. Secretaries of State who re-wrote state election laws on their own were one of the biggest problems in 2020.

The pandemic is over. It’s time to return to secure elections. This bill increases accessibility, decreases long wait times, and changes the subjective signature verification to an objective form of I.D.

You could argue that the pandemic is not yet over, although it almost certainly will be by next election day. Many of these ridiculous changes in 2020 were made in response to the China Virus. As Lennox says, it’s time to undo all the crap we did.

Now we just need the other 49 states and D.C. to pass similar legislation, and we can all breathe much easier at night.
