The Problem Is That Too Many People Give In to These Pissant Politicians

And once you start giving them control over your lives, they want more and more.

“The Biden White House mandates have been struck down repeatedly by the courts,” Cruz told reporters on Thursday. “They are blatantly lawless. Joe Biden knows they’re lawless. His lawyers have told him that the vaccine mandates are contrary to law. And Democrats don’t care. They don’t care about medical privacy. They don’t care about individual autonomy. Instead, we have seen in the course of this pandemic, Democrats, being very comfortable with being petty tyrants and decreeing that you must obey their medical mandates.”

Cruz noted he supports vaccines and that both he and his family have been vaccinated against the coronavirus but he “also support[s] individual liberty and individual responsibility.”

“It ought to be your choice as a responsible adult to decide whether to get the COVID vaccine,” Cruz continued. “And you ought to make that discussion, that decision in consultation with your doctor. And no pissant politician — whether a local mayor, or a governor or the President of the United States — has the right or legal authority to force you to make that decision.”

I agree with every single sentence of this. And my family and I are all vaccinated also.

Strong words.

“Dr. Fauci, I think is the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country,” Cruz said. “You know, he talks, a moment ago you just played, about hurting science. I don’t think anyone has hurt science, has hurt the credibility of the CDC, has hurt the credibility of doctors more than Dr. Fauci because throughout this pandemic, he’s been dishonest. He’s been political. He’s been partisan. And and the American people know it.”

I don’t think Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) thinks much of Dr. Fauci.

“This weekend he did this long interview, where he gave the answer he said, ‘I represent science. I am science.’ I gotta admit, Sean, I was laughing. It’s like Louis the 14th, the Sun King in France, saying …, ‘I am the state,'” Cruz said. “It is this delusion of grandeur that you cannot criticize him. And it was very striking, you know, in the course of that interview, he was asked about, I asked the Attorney General Merrick Garland, if he’s going to investigate and prosecute Dr. Fauci for lying to Congress, and Margaret Brennan asked him about that. And what did Fauci do? He didn’t discuss any of the substance. Instead, he just attacked and engage in ad hominem attacks. He basically did the Beavis and Butt-Head defense. He just screamed liars at everything. But, you know, facts are stubborn things.”

Facts are stubborn things. And the facts are that Fauci has lied to us. He’s changed his position about a thousand times. That in itself would actually be ok. As we learn more about the disease, certainly ideas about how to treat and to prevent it are going to change. Fauci’s problem is that every time he changes position, he acts as if that’s the position he’s always had and that you’d be an idiot to disagree with his position now. Even if that wasn’t his position yesterday and won’t be tomorrow.

I Don’t Understand Fauci’s Response Here

The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases quipped about the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 when asked about Cruz, one of several GOP lawmakers who has attacked him.

"Yeah. I have to laugh at that. I should be prosecuted? What happened on Jan. 6, senator?" Fauci quipped during an appearance Sunday on CBS News's Face the Nation.

What’s Fauci’s point? That people aren’t being prosecuted for Jan. 6? That’s clearly not true. In fact, it’s quite easy to argue that they’re being over-prosecuted. But whether you agree with that or not, people are clearly being prosecuted.

Or maybe he means that Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) should be prosecuted? What for? What did he do?

Or maybe he’s trying to make some link between the China virus and Jan. 6? Huh? What?

There’s just nothing about this statement that makes any sense at all.

And then this last bit seems particularly arrogant:

“Anybody who's looking at this carefully realizes that there's a distinct anti-science flavor to this…" Fauci said. "They're really criticizing science because I represent science. That's dangerous. To me, that's more dangerous than the slings and the arrows that get thrown at me.”

At Least Clueless Joe Can Claim Age as His Problem. Colbert Is Too Young to Be Senile, so He’s Just an Idiot.

What did Colbert say? It really is as bad as you might think.

“Cards on the table, I am not a legal expert so I can’t tell you whether or not Kyle Rittenhouse broke the law,” Colbert continued. “But I can tell you this, if he didn’t break the law we should change the law.”

Rittenhouse didn’t break the law. And we should all be glad that we live in a country where if you’re attacked, you have the right to defend yourself. That’s one of the things that keeps crime from being rampant in the United States.

Can you imagine how many muggings there would be if muggers knew no one would ever fight back?

Colbert is an idiot if he truly believes that. That is a completely indefensible statement. He should be mocked by every living American for it, it’s so bad.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) reacted to Colbert’s monologue via social media on Tuesday, posting, “Rich Democrats believe you have no right to defend yourself from an angry mob.”

“He was being violently attacked by three dangerous felons; a jury of his peers found that Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self-defense,” Cruz said. “What Colbert is arguing is to outlaw the ability to defend oneself.”

Senator Cruz gets it at least.

Beijing Olympics: It's a Travesty to Honor Chinese Fascists – PJ Media

As I said, I stand with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on this one.

But I will present the case for the other side:

Let’s go with four specific reasons not to let modern-day totalitarians host the Winter Olympics:

1.Beijing has violated all provisions from the UN Genocide Convention with its abhorrent abuse of Uyghurs in Xinjiang province. Dictator Xi Jinping is holding roughly 2 million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in hundreds of clandestine concentration camps and other detention centers. The few who’ve broken free say they were subjected to indoctrination, sexual abuse, and forced sterilization.

2. For going on two years, the brazen CCP categorically refuses to cooperate in any investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic that’s taken nearly 6 million lives on earth. The noxious group has done everything in its power to obfuscate and lie since the pandemic’s earliest days, from erasing whistleblowers’ names from the Internet to blaming the United States.

3. The crackdown on Hongkongers’ freedom is completely inapposite to laws and promises in the 1997 accord, which handed over the island city from the British to Red China. Not only has the CCP squashed any semblance of democracy, they are now arresting anyone that stands in their way.

4: Only a few weeks ago, the tyrannical regime kidnapped their own Olympian, Peng Shuai, after the tennis star accused former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of sexual assault.

I can’t disagree with any of this.

“Boycotting these Olympics is mainly about denying China another global propaganda opportunity. It is also about changing the behavior of the wealthy IOC members who spit on the idea of human rights as China pampers them. China is not a developing country. It has always had the world’s largest population and, after shedding parts of the communist economic model, the fastest growing and polluting economy on earth. The U.S. government should be the main moral counterbalance to modern totalitarians. Be it Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, or today, the free world should not lend legitimacy to genocidal regimes; doing so encourages the IOC and others to continue awarding marquee events and publicity wins to the worst regimes on earth.”

ok.

I don’t disagree at all. And I don’t disagree with the people clamoring for the about Peng Shuai. Communist China seems dedicated to exceeding even the U.S.S.R’s worst offenses.

But our Olympic athletes should not be made to be political pawns. I agree with Cruz, as I said. Let’s go “kick their commie a**es.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told CBS News on Sunday that he does not support a full boycott of the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing because it would punish U.S. athletes who have trained for years to be able to compete in the games and because the U.S. needs to “kick their commie a**es.”

“I’ve been leaning in hard saying we ought to move the Olympics out of China, that’s what we should have done,” Cruz told “Face The Nation” host Margaret Brennan. “The IOC refused to do that. I think it’s a mistake to have a full boycott of the Olympics. You know, Jimmy Carter tried that in the 1970s. All it did was punish a generation of athletes. We’ve got young men and young women, Americans, who spent their whole lives practicing for this moment. I don’t want to punish those young athletes. What we ought to do — I do agree with the notion of a so-called diplomatic boycott — which means we don’t send high ranking cabinet officials over there.”

This is exactly my feeling and has been my feeling since the idea was first floated. Glad that someone is saying. Keep it up, Cruz.

JIM TREACHER: Ted Cruz Stops Wearing a Mask After Getting the Vaccine, Which Is Somehow Newsworthy.

Why?

This isn’t a rhetorical question. If these vaccines work, why do vaccinated people need to wear masks?

Why?

People are getting kicked off passenger flights for allowing their children to eat without masks, as if it were somehow possible for them to eat with their mouths covered.

Why?

Jen Psaki regularly stands at a podium in front of the White House press corps, all of whom are wearing masks, and she never wears a mask.

Why?

There hasn’t been a single reported case of someone getting COVID-19 from touching a surface, yet there’s still all this cleaning theater going on. A public figure walks away from a microphone, and somebody rushes in and sprays down everything he might’ve touched or breathed on.

Why?

Now one of the vaccines has been pulled entirely because there’s literally one chance in a million that if you’re pregnant or on birth control, you could get blood clots. That’s a 0.0001% chance.

Why?

None of this crap makes sense. There’s nothing scientific about any of this. It’s just hysteria. Superstition.

From everything I’ve seen and read, these vaccines work wonderfully. Miraculously, even. I’m getting my second dose next week, and I can’t wait. I’m not spending one more minute living like this than I have to.

Ron DeSantis has the best response to the multi-mask-obsessed left:

I had my 2nd vaccine dose almost a week ago. When my two week period is up, I probably won’t stop wearing masks entirely, but I’ll start limiting use. And I expect by the end of next month to only be wearing masks where required by the proprietor of wherever I’m entering.

And I may ask them why it’s necessary.

We need to go back to living normal lives. This whole China Virus hysteria has to end. And it has to end soon.

In fact, I find it thoroughly disgusting that Dan Rather is treated with respect by anyone at all.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) lashed out at Joe Biden on Monday in an open letter to him in which he called on the president to be more transparent with the media about the migrant crisis at the U.S./Mexico border.

It’s more than hypocrisy. You know who else kept people in cages and didn’t let the media know about it? Yeah, that guy.

“But it is not enough for members of the Senate to see what is happening — the American people must see,” he added. “That is why I requested that members of the media be allowed to join us. But your administration clearly and emphatically refused to offer press access. This is outrageous and hypocritical.”

Not stopping there, Cruz slammed Biden for pledging “truth and transparency” and already breaking that promise weeks into his presidency.

“At the beginning of your administration, Press Secretary Jen Psaki stressed the importance of ‘truth and transparency’ and a ‘deep respect for the role of a free and independent press,'” Cruz wrote. “At the beginning of the month, Secretary Mayorkas stated that he would adhere to principles of ‘openness and transparency.’ But now, when your administration faces a crisis of your own making, you are refusing to allow the very transparency you promised and that you demanded from prior administrations.

Well, if you believed President Joe Biden (D-USA) on any of that, you were a sucker.

This week Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) took his daughters on a trip to Cancun in the midst of a winter freeze in his home state of Texas.

Meanwhile, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) battled accusations that he covered up the deaths of thousands in NY nursing homes.

One was a small family trip that led to the suffering of…well, no one really.

The other was about the deaths of thousands.

Easy to decide which should get more coverage, right?

Yeah, about that.

‘Jaw-Dropping’: Comedian Mocks Massive Media Coverage Gap Between Cruz And Cuomo | The Daily Caller

Cuomo received 55 seconds to Cruz’s 3:15 on ABC’s “World News Tonight,” and “NBC Nightly News” gave 1:30 to Cuomo and two full minutes to Cruz. CNN devoted 2:42 to covering Cuomo, but spent ten times that — 25:31 — talking about Cruz. MSNBC made no mention of Cuomo, but gave over 20 minutes of coverage to Cruz. Only the “CBS Evening News” gave Cuomo (1:45) more coverage than Cruz (45 seconds).

That’s 6:52 spent covering Cuomo, and 51:31 for Cruz.

That seems about right.

I Think a Certain Governor From Florida is Considering a Run for President

DeSantis Shreds Biden: Democrats Put ‘Interests Of Education Unions’ Ahead Of ‘Wellbeing Of Our Children’ | The Daily Wire

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed the Biden administration during a press conference this week, warning that kids will “not go back in [this] school year” under the Biden administration’s current plans and “may not even go back in the fall.”

DeSantis specifically highlighted the newly released CDC guidelines for reopening schools. The Washington Post reported that the Biden administration’s new guidelines effectively would do away with full in-person learning for the foreseeable future, even as cases drop around the country, because to have full in-person learning the rates of community transmission would need to be “quite low,” which The Post notes does not exist almost anywhere in the U.S.

When you’re a sitting Governor, you don’t attack the President publicly unless you’re trying to make a name for yourself. And not only is he attacking the President, he’s touting his successes.

“We have been open, they will remain open and we are not turning back,” DeSantis continued. “We’ve been open the whole time since August. We had kids doing camps and athletics and all that over the summer. And we’ve been in person as much as anybody in the country. And yet, we’re 34 out of 50 states and DC for COVID-19 cases on a per capita basis for children. Thirty-three states have more cases per capita than than Florida, for children per capita.

Huh. I’m not the only one noticing.

Ron DeSantis Gets 2024 'Tier One' Designation From Party Insiders (pjmedia.com)

Politico spoke to Republican veterans across the country who give DeSantis a lot of runway going into 2024. Many say they hear his name in unexpected places, like Texas, where he seems to be gaining popularity. The author notes that he is probably popular with Republicans because he defies experts and spars with the media. A shallow assessment, to be sure.

DeSantis is gaining in popularity for several reasons. He has an authenticity about him that is not boorish. He can handle himself with the media, knowing when to crack a joke and when to get serious. DeSantis holds people accountable, like firing  Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel after his failures during the Parkland shooting. He also defends Floridians by committing to taking on Big Tech to protect free speech and showing a willingness to take on the new administration when it threatened Florida with travel restrictions.

Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio, who worked for Trump and DeSantis, told Politico:

“Any serious handicapper would have to put DeSantis in tier one for 2024. And tier one is not big,” he said. Fabrizio puts the governor in the same class as Pence and Cruz, even though they’re far better known at the moment.

I’m not sure I would put Pence in tier one. He’d be a GOP Establishment pick, but he’s Jeb! all over again. I don’t think the base follows him, even if he was Trump’s VP. And whoever the candidate is in 2024, they will need the base. It won’t be a coronation. We learned that in 2016. Or at least I hope “we” learned it (talking to you, GOP Establishment—I certainly learned it).

Systemic Bias

We all make mistakes. Some are avoidable. Andrea Mitchell of NBC is in trouble for this tweet.

She’s mistaken. The full quote from Macbeth, Act 5, Scene 5 is:

She should have died hereafter;
There would have been a time for such a word.
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day
To the last syllable of recorded time,
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

Mitchell, however, is clearly thinking of The Sounds and the Fury by William Faulkner. But, as John Hindraker at Power Line Blog points out:

Here’s the thing, though. No one who studied Faulkner even superficially could fail to understand that the title of The Sound and the Fury was a Shakespearean reference. This was explained in every freshman English class where Faulkner’s book has been taught.

Here’s why: The full Shakespeare quote, from MacBeth, says that life “is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Why did Faulkner choose that Shakespeare quote for the title of his book? Because the first section of The Sound and the Fury is, in fact, a “tale told by an idiot.” It is a narrative by a character named Benji who lacks normal mental capacity. He describes many things that he does not understand–other people playing golf, for example–and the art of that section of the book is for Faulkner to write it so that Benji doesn’t understand what he is seeing, but we do.

Hindraker goes on to say that Mitchell clearly “knows little or nothing about Shaespeare or Faulkner”. That would be depressing, if true, since according to Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit:

It gets worse. According to Wikipedia, at least, she majored in English Literature at Penn.

Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post gets in on the act:

And Reynolds points out that “these people consider themselves the best and the brightest.”

I don’t think they’re stupid. I think the answer is simpler, and it allows me to use one of the left’s favorite buzzwords.

I think the answer lies in systemic bias against conservatives. Leftists have an unwavering belief that all conservatives are stupid. And because of this and their own smug superiority, they see “gotcha” moments everywhere, and can’t wait to pounce when one arrives.

See, if I saw Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) or even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-12) say something that seemed off to me, I wouldn’t immediately leap to tweet about how stupid they are. I would check to make sure my memory is correct first.

In fact, I just tried this from my phone. I opened up a search page and started typing “sound and “ and that was enough to get a suggestion of “sound and fury signifying nothing”. Tapped to search, and after the bits about Andrea Mitchell and Ted Cruz, the next few results were all about Shakespeare. Took me about 10-15 seconds. Mitchell could have done this.

But the systemic bias against conservatives doesn’t allow leftists to do that. They have to show their superiority, and that must be done immediately while the iron is hot.

Exit question: Jennifer Rubin’s response seems to imply that because Cruz doesn’t know the origin of the quote, that he has no soul. But since Cruz is right and it’s Rubin that’s wrong, does that mean that she’s the one with no soul?

Cruz Nails it-Again

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he can’t tell the difference between Big Tech and Democrats anymore. On a recent episode of his podcast “The Verdict With Ted Cruz,” he slammed the Democrat Party for what it is today.

Cruz explained he believes it’s now the party of the rich, elites, Wall Street, Big Tech, Hollywood and universities. He also claimed all of the people giving money to the Democrats have deep ties to China, which directly implicates the party.

He’s absolutely correct. In fact, I was thinking about this the other day. The “base” of the two major U.S. political parties has pretty much reversed in my lifetime, and this reversal accelerated during the Trump years.

Rightly or wrongly, the GOP was always referred to as the “party of the rich” and the Democratic Party was always “for the working man”. Today, the opposite is clearly true. The Democrats are doing everything they can to convince you that they are still the “for the working man”, and that’s one of the reasons they hated Trump’s populism. But it isn’t true.

I don’t know how many people yet truly grasp this basic fact. I suspect that when they do, we won’t be a 50/50 nation anymore. This is why the Democrats are doing everything they can to control the message & narrative. They can’t win unless they control the media and can shut down the voice of the opposition.
