Sometimes Reality Becomes Too Hard to Deny

You’d have to be a masochist to voluntarily live in most big west coast cities at this point, but a couple are worse than others, San Francisco is definitely one.

Leftism Is Destroying San Francisco, AP Concedes – PJ Media

San Francisco was once a world-class city but has over many decades become a bastion of crime and a literal toilet. Conservatives have pointed out how San Francisco’s notoriously left-wing culture has destroyed the city, and now the Associated Press has finally caught on.

“Caitlin Foster fell in love with San Francisco’s people and beauty and moved to the city a dozen years ago,” the AP reported on Saturday. “But after repeatedly clearing away used needles, other drug paraphernalia and human feces outside the bar she manages, and too many encounters with armed people in crisis, her affection for the city has soured.”

It makes me physically nauseous to read about things like this.

But even liberals have their breaking point when it comes to getting what they vote for. Residents are starting to wake up to the fact their city is in decline and are reportedly “losing patience.”

The pandemic emptied parts of San Francisco and highlighted some of its drawbacks: human and dog feces smeared across sidewalks, home and vehicle break-ins, overflowing trash cans, and a laissez-faire approach by officials to brazen drug dealing. Parents despaired as public schools stayed closed for most of last year as nearby districts welcomed children back to the classroom.

Gross.

That Will Definitely Improve the Education for Your Kid

LA School District Fires Hundreds of Employees For Refusing shot – PJ Media

The Los Angeles Unified School District isn’t fooling around when it comes to enforcing its vaccine mandate. The school board voted to fire 496 employees who refused to be vaccinated. They also voted to enact a policy in which any student 12 years old and older beginning the January term who hadn’t been vaccinated will not be allowed on campus and will be forced to take an online independent study program.

Currently, there are about 34,000 students who are not in compliance with the mandate.

“We care deeply about all of our employees,” interim superintendent Megan K. Reilly said in a statement. “Parting ways with individuals who choose not to be vaccinated is an extremely difficult, but necessary decision to ensure the safety of all in our school communities.”

but don’t worry. Your kid will still be getting the finest education money can buy. You’ll just be buying less of it for the same money.

And How Many Zeros Would You Like in Your Lawsuit?

California School Bribes Boy to Get COVID Vaccine and Not Tell His Parents – PJ Media

A 13-year-old boy was bribed with pizza from his school to get a COVID-19 vaccine without parental consent, reports NBC Los Angeles. According to the report, the school not only gave the minor child the vaccine without parental consent but instructed the boy not to tell his parents.

The boy, a student at the aptly named Barack Obama Global Prep Academy in South Los Angeles, came home with a vaccine card and told his mother he accepted the shot after being offered free pizza.

Kids aren’t good at keeping secrets.

Maybe you should consider that before you start violating their rights and the rights of their parents.

In this situation, I’d be on the phone with my attorney faster than you can blink. And I’d be asking him how many zeros I could put in the damage figure for my lawsuit. I’d ask if 8 zeros were too many.

Great, They’ll Be Free to Loot Again

14 California Looters Arrested by Police Have Been Released – PJ Media

Thieves hit 11 Los Angeles area stores that weekend, stealing $338,000 in merchandise. But several of the looters pled poverty and got out, thanks to a California Supreme Court decision that ordered judges in the state to consider a suspect’s ability to pay when setting bail. If you can show you are “indigent” — no visible income or means of support — you get to walk.

Hooray.

But these are just looters, no problem, right?

One of the suspects is charged with murder, while the other is charged with being an accessory to murder. The shooting stemmed from a road rage incident after the victim collided with several other vehicles. The man charged with murder, Efrain Anzures, claims he fired in self-defense.

Nice. Let’s set them all free. More people can get robbed and killed.

Maybe They Can Paint Pictures of Santa on Their Boarded up Windows

‘There’s nothing festive about ... boarded-up storefronts’: Union Square retailers look different this holiday season (sfchronicle.com)

Or maybe we should reconsider this whole #DefundThePolice thing?

As San Francisco approached the critical December shopping month, instead of holiday lights and Santa Claus decorations, dozens of downtown retailers greeted shoppers with plywood-encased storefronts and armed guards in the wake of mass retail thefts in Union Square two weeks ago.

Around a half-dozen stores in the Union Square area were boarded up on Tuesday, including the Louis Vuitton store and others that sustained damage during the robberies. Other luxury stores such as Gucci, which Mayor London Breed said had an existing security gate system and wasn’t damaged in previous robberies, had a guard outside as well.

It’s a stark contrast from previous years when December in Union Square was marked by windows full of holiday ornamentation and the seasonal enticement of products that could fit under Christmas trees.

The smash and grab artists will continue until something or someone makes them stop.

Could be harsh penalties and strong law enforcement presence. Could be armed store clerks. Could be professional security. But it will have to be something.

In 15-20 Years, We’re Going to Really Pay For What They’re Doing to Education

Math Is Now 'Racist' According to California – PJ Media

According to The San Francisco Standard, the new standards pull programs for gifted students, “de-emphasizes calculus, and applies social justice principles to math lessons.”

How about we apply math to math lessons?

“We were transforming math education, and change is hard and scary,” said Rebecca Pariso, a math teacher at Hueneme Elementary School District. “Especially if you don’t understand why that change needs to occur. But I didn’t expect it to go this far.”

I don’t undersand why it needs to occur, because it doesn’t need to occur.

This is right.

Over a thousand STEM experts signed an open letter condemning the proposed framework, saying it politicizes math. “[California’s] proposed Mathematics Curriculum Framework is presented as a step toward social justice and racial equity, but its effect would be the opposite—to rob all Californians, especially the poorest and most vulnerable, who always suffer most when schools fail to teach their students.”

Out: Illegal Alien Sanctuary Cities. In: Vaccination Sanctuary Cities.

City of Oroville declares itself a constitutional republic in stand against Calif. Gov. Newsom’s COVID-19 mandates | One America News Network (oann.com)

Not sure I feel any better about these than I do the other. But sauce for the goose, I guess.

A Northern California city has declared itself a “constitutional republic” city in an effort to take a stand against Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom’s COVID-19 mandates.

In a six-to-one vote earlier this month, the Oroville City Council adopted the resolution, which would oppose state and federal orders it considers as government overreach.

While the designation would not shield the city from federal or state laws, the city’s vice mayor, Scott Thomson, said it’s a largely symbolic push-back against Newsom’s policies.

“It’s just basically drawing the line,” Thomson stated. “It’s not necessarily against one specific mandate. We’re not talking about one mandate that’s been pushing on us recently. It’s a barrage of mandates.”

Hard to argue with that. The mandates are stupid. And don’t accomplish anything. In fact, they may have negative value.

I’m Seeing More and More of These

Calif. school district will not comply with vaccine mandate | One America News Network (oann.com)

A school district in Sacramento, California unveiled they will not be following Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) coronavirus vaccine mandate.

The announcement came Wednesday, after the Calaveras Unified School District voted to not “support, enforce or comply” with the order Tuesday night. Earlier this month, the district noted they were made aware of potential impacts of liability exposure, funding loss and other formal actions that could be taken against the district. However, they held strong in their unanimous decision.

I guess Resistance is Not Futile.

This Is Entirely the Result of Liberal Media and the Policies of Democrats Over the Last Decade or So

Report: Anti-white hate crimes went up 127% in L.A. | One America News Network (oann.com)

In 2020, anti-white hate crimes climbed 127 percent, showing the highest increase of any other racial group.

“This report is another alarming reminder that we have a long way to go in building a more inclusive and just society,” said Hilda L. Solis, the chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Anti-Asian hate crimes increased by 76 percent, mirroring similar statistics in other major U.S. cities. Meanwhile, anti-Black crimes increased by 35 percent, while anti-Latino crimes jumped 58 percent.

The China Virus Has Made Us All Stupid

Today’s blacklisted American: UCLA threatens to expell remote student for not revealing his COVID shot status – Behind The Black – Robert Zimmerman

No, it really is as bad as it sounds:

You are calling to tell me you will drop my classes after we’ve already paid $70,000 for the year if I don’t upload something about my vaccine status when all of my classes are online,” Walker is heard saying in his video. A UCLA official responded, “Correct.” “Got it.” responded Walker.

“All of my classes are online. I don’t step onto campus. I’ve already paid. We’re a week into classes. My university just called to tell me they are dropping my classes if I don’t report to them about my vaccination.” Walker commented on Twitter.

Seriously, how stupid are you? What does his vaccination status matter to you? He can’t possibly be a danger to you or any of your students in any significant way.

You’re just power hungry idiots. People need to stand up to crap like this and shout “STOP! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MINDS?”

I think people actually will start doing that in quantity if crap like this continues much longer.

If You Believe That a Pro-police Flag Is ”Inappropriate”, You Should Probably Adjust Your Beliefs

USC Professor Refuses To Remove Pro-Police Flag Despite Student Protest | The Daily Wire

USC professor James Moore has had the flag, an American flag with a “thin blue line,” on his door since the beginning of the fall semester — but he has recently come under fire for it. Moore told The College Fix in an interview that he first received a complaint from a university administrator who called him and suggested that he take the flag down. Then, last week, an article in the university’s campus newspaper, the Daily Trojan, labeled the display a “controversy,” quoting several students who called the flag “inappropriate” and demanded the flag be taken down.

“This is an inappropriate and unnecessary symbol to have on an office door where USC is, within the last year or two, trying to have a much broader diversity initiative and to be inclusive, especially in the STEM area,” one USC graduate student told the school newspaper. The student also said that after he first saw the flag in October, he voiced his concerns to the Dean of USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering and Office of Equity and Diversity.

You know that the police are the good guys, right?

Moore does.

Moore told The College Fix he was not trolling and defended himself from the criticism. “It’s important,” Moore said. “Blue lives protect black lives, and black lives are not at risk from the police — they are at risk from crime — and it’s blue lives that stand between them and crime.”

Moore listed three reasons for hanging the flag outside his office door: First, to dispute the idea that police are the biggest statistical threat to black people; second, to honor a police detective family member who recently retired; and third, to raise awareness that the murder rate in the United States has spiked 30% in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the rise of the “defund the police” movement.

Sadly, I doubt he’s convincing anyone of the truth of his statements. The people that need to listen to such things never do.

Social Justice <> Math

California Plan To Inject ‘Social Justice’ Into High School Math On Hold After Backlash | The Daily Wire

There’s not enough backlash possible for such a stupid idea.

The California guidelines, which are not binding, could overhaul the way many school districts approach math instruction. The draft rejected the idea of naturally gifted children, recommended against shifting certain students into accelerated courses in middle school and tried to promote high-level math courses that could serve as alternatives to calculus, like data science or statistics.

The draft also suggested that math should not be colorblind and that teachers could use lessons to explore social justice — for example, by looking out for gender stereotypes in word problems, or applying math concepts to topics like immigration or inequality. …

None of these are remotely appropriate for a math class. And if you think they are, then you should not be involved in education.

Heh. Can We Get Some in Indiana, Too?

Florida’s CFO Pounces to Persuade In-N-Out Burger to Move Into Sunshine State and Out of California (legalinsurrection.com)

My colleague Mary Chastain has reported on how the state of California has closed locations of the popular hamburger chain, In-N-Out, as its corporate headquarters refuses to implement policies that would force it to be “vaccine police” over its customers.

Politicians from the State of Florida have recently seized upon California’s many economic failures to persuade businesses to consider Sunshine State alternatives. For example, in the wake of the cargo ship traffic jam off California’s coast, Governor Ron DeSantis invited shippers to consider those in his state.

Now the state’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis has pounced on another opportunity, said he’d be “honored” to help In-N-Out “find the perfect place to start a new In-N-Out story right here in Florida.”

Expect to see this more and more often over the coming years. It won’t be just China Virus related. As the left continues to expose how anti-business friendly they are, businesses will become increasingly in search of ways to escape their tyranny. And red states will roll out the…err…red carpet for them.

This is one thing I look forward to in the coming years. I just hope it’s big enough of a movement and soon enough.

“Shining Example”...Heh.

California GOP Congressman: The Mess at Our Ports Is a 'Shining Example' of Democratic Policy Failures – PJ Media

U.S. Congressman Mike Garcia (R-CA) didn’t pull any punches when discussing exactly who he believes is to blame for the mess at our nation’s busiest ports. “I blame both the federal government and the state governments,” said Garcia in an interview with Fox News’ Stuart Varney. “This is what happens when you have life-long politicians trying to run a country when they’ve had absolutely zero business experience. Between Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer you’ve got three politicians who have earned 141 years of paychecks, all of which were as politicians–none of which were in the business world.”

True.

Fundamentally, the mess at the ports illuminates the core differences between leftists and conservatives. While leftists fine shipping companies because they have to wait to unload their goods, conservatives believe there’s a better way of relieving the port congestion. “What they should be doing—rather than imposing fines—they should be cutting costs, incentivizing people to get out of there with lower port fees and quicker turnaround times,” explained Garcia. “That’s how we’re going to get this thing moving.” Instead, leftists punish people who don’t do what they think they should. Conservatives believe incentives work much more effectively than punishments.

Also true. Punishments in this case particularly don’t make sense. Democrats want to punish people for something over which they have no control. You’re basically telling shipping companies to stop shipping. It’s the only way to avoid fines.

Democrats continue to set new records in stupidity. But that’s not even the dumbest idea they’ve had this week. The tax on un-realized capital gains wins that award.

Clearly, There’s No Reason for Parents to Be Concerned About School Boards

California School Board President Curses Parent on Hot Mic – PJ Media

At a meeting of the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board of Education, mom Lauren Roupoli spoke out about her concerns with the state’s mask mandate for schools. Fox News reports that Roupoli’s speech drew support from the crowd in attendance:

In her fiery speech, she accused one board member of criticizing parents for voicing their legitimate concerns. She drew applause when she said, “We are vocal because we are our children’s biggest advocates.”

During the applause, board president Marlys Davidson made her displeasure known over a mic she didn’t realize was hot when she replied, “F— you.”

For once, I won’t post the audio. You can find it at the link.  Do I need to mention that it’s NSFW?

The school boards want you as parents to sit down, shut up, and take it. They want you to abandon your children to them for 8-10 hours a day, and they don’t want you to object or even know about anything that goes on during those hours.

Your children are not yours. They belong to the state.

Yes, Because They’re Just Sitting Around Not Unloading on Purpose

FACEPALM: Los Angeles Will Fine Cargo Ships That Can't Unload – PJ Media

Unless you’re planning on opening up about three dozen more docks and staffing them with dock workers, I don’t see how you can do this.

According to CNBC, the White House is “hopeful” that fines will “ease the intensifying logjam of cargo ships” waiting to unload at Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. Together, the two account for 40% of the country’s seaborne imports.

Carriers will have to pay “$100 per day for each container lingering past a given timeline” starting on the first of the month. Containers moved by truck will have nine days before they’ll start paying, and containers moved by rail will have just three days.

How?

I mean…how?

I don’t understand the logic here. It’s so bizarre that I don’t even know how to argue against it. How will fining a stuck ship for being stuck against their will make them unstuck?

Can someone please explain that to me?

Petty Little Tyrants in L.A.

Today’s blacklisted Americans: Los Angeles government bans the unvaccinated from society – Behind The Black – Robert Zimmerman

I keep trying to decide if they’re really scared, or just using the China virus to get more control over us.

Persecution is now cool! On Octover 6th the Los Angeles city council joined a number of other cities in California as well as New York and voted to restrict access to most of society for anyone who has not gotten vaccinated against COVID.

Under the new law, businesses must require proof of vaccination when customers enter indoor facilities, including coffee shops, gyms, museums, bowling alleys, spas and a range of other venues.

I’m pretty sure I’d go the In-and-Out Burger route. Put the signs up telling people they have to be masked and vaccinated, then ignore the signs. It’s not my job to enforce your tyrannical rules. You want ‘em enforced? You post a guard at my establishment and you do the checking yourself. Otherwise, leave me out of it.

It Makes Me Wish We Had In-And-Out Burgers Here

San Fran Temporarily Closes In-N-Out For Not Enforcing Vaccine Mandate, Restaurant Fires Back | The Daily Wire

”Our store properly and clearly posted signage to communicate local vaccination requirements,” In-N-Out Burger’s Chief Legal and Business Officer, Arnie Wensinger said in a statement to Fox News. “After closing our restaurant, local regulators informed us that our restaurant Associates must actively intervene by demanding proof of vaccination and photo identification from every Customer, then act as enforcement personnel by barring entry for any Customers without the proper documentation.”

“‘We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government,’ Wensinger declared, slamming the San Francisco Department of Health’s requirements as ‘unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe’ and accusing the city of asking restaurants to ‘segregate Customers’ based on vaccine documentation,” Fox News added.

“We fiercely disagree with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business,” the statement said. “This is clear governmental overreach and is intrusive, improper, and offensive.”

Ouch. That’s harsh. But true. Good luck to them in their fight.

Yeah, That Will Fix the Supply Chain Issues

Oil spill: Rep. Michelle Steel calls for ban on ships anchoring off Orange County – Daily News

Under pressure to react to the recent oil spill off her House district’s shore line, Rep. Michelle Steel on Tuesday proposed a temporary ban on ships idling along the coast, citing initial reports that an anchor may have dislodged the failed pipeline.

“This crisis could have been prevented and it’s important that we protect our waters and coastline,” said Steel, R-Seal Beach, whose 48th District includes much of coastal Orange County.

Maritime experts say Steel’s proposal could lead to increased costs and delays for shipping companies, more air pollution and a greater risk of offshore accidents.

Steel’s Stopping Hazardous Incidents in the Pacific Act of 2021, or SHIP Act, would ban cargo idling or anchoring within 24 nautical miles from the Orange County coast. The ban would take effect immediately and last “up to 180 days,” or until President Joe Biden declares an end to a port backlog that’s stemmed from the coronavirus pandemic and caused a spike in ships waiting offshore.

When asked where ships would anchor, Steel’s spokeswoman Danielle Stewart said via email, “Anywhere that is not coastal Orange County.”

What. An. Idiot.

This woman doesn’t care that you can’t get your Diet Dr. Pepper. She just cares that there are unsightly ships off her coast.

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Pretty Soon All the Wealth and Power Will Be In the Red States

Tesla is moving its headquarters to Austin, Texas - The Verge

Musk had previously threatened to pull Tesla’s entire operations out of California in 2020, because of how vehemently he disagreed with the shelter-in-place orders the state used to help keep people safe early in the coronavirus pandemic. Tesla even sued the county that the company’s California factory is in as a form of protest.

Musk himself moved to Texas last year, as SpaceX dramatically increased its presence in the southern tip of the state. The Tesla CEO said at one point that he thought California had become too “complacent” with respect to its residents and businesses.

Blue states are increasingly unfriendly to businesses. And businesses are starting to say “enough!” This won’t be the last move like this that you’ll hear about.

Don’t believe me? Maybe this will help.
