while the Democrats might be hoping the worst is over, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers (SMART) just announced it disagrees with the vaccine mandate as well.
While businesses and unions have already started fighting against the vaccine mandate, SMART is massively different given that the union consists of service technicians, bus operators, engineers, metal workers, conductors, sign workers, welders, production employees, and a whole lot more. For those who might not know, SMART represents over 203,000 members. So when SMART disagrees with a decision – the government tends to listen.
For those keeping track, as it stands, there are currently three unions at the Union Pacific Railroad that are verbally objecting to Biden’s vaccine mandate.
To say that this vaccine mandate rollout has not gone as the Biden administration envisioned is likely the understatement of the year. And they can’t back down at this point, so I don’t know what they’re going to do.
