“I don’t think we have seen enough urgency when it comes to rewriting our immigration laws to match the needs and the reality that we see, especially in our border communities,” O’Rourke answered.

“So, yes, we expect more of our president and those who represent us in Congress,” he added.

In the interview, O’Rourke also reiterated his vow to “take your AR-15, your AK-47” if he’s successful in his bid to become governor.

Asked by Bash if he stands by the pledge he made during a Democratic presidential debate in September 2019, “I still hold this view,” he said.

“Look, we are a state that has a long, proud tradition of responsible gun ownership. And most of us here in Texas do not want to see our friends, our family members, our neighbors shot up with these weapons of war. So yes, I still hold this view,” O’Rourke said.

O’Rourke seems more like a sacrificial lamb at this point, than an actual candidate. But every now and then the sacrificial lambs bottle lightning. I don’t expect it this time, but we shall see.
